Muhammad Al-Hurr Al-Amili writes: “Chapter 14 – Impermissibility of imitation (Taqlid) of someone other than the infallibles in legal judgments – [764] 1 – Muhammad Ibn Ya’qub reported from a number of our companions who reported from Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Khalid who reported from Abdullah Ibn Yahya who reported from Ibn Muskan who reported from Abu Basir that he was Imam As-Sadiq (a.) about the verse: “They took their scholars and their monks to be lords instead of God. (9:31) He said: “By God, they did not call them to worship them; for if they had called them to worship them, they would not have listened to them, but they permitted them to do what was forbidden and forbidden them to do what was permitted. Therefore they worshipped them in a way they were not aware of. “I say: “The traditions concerning this subject have been continuously and repeatedly reported (Mutawatir). We mention a summary of it in the aforementioned book.”– [765] 2 –This includes the statement of Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “Beware of these authorities, who are ascending to authority, because by God, the sandals did not pulsate behind anyone except that he (himself) perished and (others) perished.”– [766] 3 – And his (a.) statement: “Woe to you to give someone other than the proof (a.) such a position that you believe everything he said.”– [767] 4 – And his (a.) statement: “He that obeyed a man in disobedience has worshipped him.” – [768] 5 – And the statement of Imam Al-Baqir (a.): “He who listened to a speaker has worshipped him. If the speaker conveyed the message from God, then he has worshipped God; and if the speaker conveyed the message from Satan, then he has worshipped Satan.” – [769] 6 – And his (a.) statement: “Anything that does not come out of this house is false.” – [770] 7 – And the statement of Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “Fear God and do not go to the authorities! Leave them alone until they come to an end. By God, I am better for you than they are.” – [771] 8 – And the statement of Imam Ali (a.): “We are the guiding principle and the companions and the treasuries and the doors. The houses shall not be entered other than through their doors, and whoever enters them other than through their doors, shall be granted the title of thief.” – [772] 9 – And his (a.) statement:“Among people there are only two kinds: a follower of the law and an creator of an innovation.” – [773] 10 – And the statement of Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “Abstain from the analogy (Qiyas) and opinion (Ra’y) and what people say about the religion of God without proof!” Besides these, there are many other traditions.” [Al-Fusul-ul-Muhimmah Fi Usul Al-A’immah, Volume 1 Page 524 – 527]
