Ash-Sharif Al-Murtada writes: “Is it allowed to do the Friday prayer (Jum’ah) both behind the like-minded (Mu’alif) and behind the opposition (Mukhalif)? Does it consist of two bowings (Rak’ah) with a sermon (Khutbah), instead of four? The answer to this is, that the Friday prayer consists of two bowings (Rak’ah) without adding anything to it and there is no gathering for it, except with a worthy Imam (a.) or with the one which the worthy Imam (a.) sets up. But if this has not happened, then one prays the noon prayer (Zuhr) with four bowings (Rak’ah) and whoever has been forced to do the Friday prayer with someone who does not hold the position of Imam (a.) is obliged to do the noon prayer (Zuhr) with four bowings (Rak’ah) afterwards.”[Rasa’il-ul-Murtada, Volume 1, page 272]
