Some Nazarenes take offence at the fact that Imam Ali (a.) punishes with fire [here!]. doesn’t the Bible also report of a fire punishment by Jesus Christ (a.)?

Peter’s second letter (chapter 3 verse 7) says:

ולכּן אלסמואתּ ואלארצ אלכּאאִנה אלאן מדּכרה בּתּלךּ אלכּלמה עינהא ללנאר ומחפוט ליום אלדּינונה והלאךּ אלנאס אלכּאפרין

“But by the same word the heavens and the earth which are now are saved for fire, and are kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”

The Gospel of Luke (chapter 12 verse 49) says:

גּאְתּ לאֻוקדּ נארן עלא אלארצ פמאדא אֻרידּ בּעדּ מא דּאמתּ קדּ אִשתּעלתּ

“I have come to set a fire on earth, and what more could I desire than to have it kindled?”

The gospel of Matthew (chapter 13 verse 40 – 42) says:

פכּמא יגּמע אלזואן ויחרק בּאלנאר הכּדא יכּון פי אִכתּתּאם נטאם אלאשיאאְ ירסל אִבּן אלאִנסאן מלאאִכּתּה פיגּמעון מן מלכּותּה גּמיע אלמעאתר ואלמעתּדּין עלא אלשריעה וירמונהם פי אֻתּון אלנאר הנאךּ אלבּכּאאֻ וצריר אלאסנאן

“Just as the weeds are now gathered together and burned in the fire, so it will be at the completion of the system of things. The Son of Man will send forth His angels and they will read out of His kingdom all the things that cause stumbling and people who act lawlessly and they will throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be [their] weeping and [their] gnashing of teeth.”
