Is Yazid Ibn Mu’awiyah the rightful successor and Imam according to Sunni reports?

Ayyub reported that Nafi’ said: “When the people from Medina Yazid Ibn Mu’awiyah fell, Abdullah Ibn Umar gathered his neighbors and descendants and reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “On the day of the resurrection a flag will be appointed for every traitor.” Then he said: “We swore to this man according to the oath of allegiance we made to God and His Messenger (s.) and I know of no more powerful traitor than that who swore to a man according to the oath of allegiance which was made to God and His Messenger (s.) and then declares war on him. I know of none of you who overthrew him and did not take the oath of allegiance in this matter without me separating myself from him.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 6694]

حدثنا سليمان بن حرب حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب عن نافع قال لما خلع أهل المدينة يزيد بن معاوية جمع ابن عمر حشمه وولده فقال إني سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول ينصب لكل غادر لواء يوم القيامة وإنا قد بايعنا هذا الرجل على بيع الله ورسوله وإني لا أعلم غدرا أعظم من أن يبايع رجل على بيع الله ورسوله ثم ينصب له القتال وإني لا أعلم أحدا منكم خلعه ولا بايع في هذا الأمر إلا كانت الفيصل بيني وبينه

Abdullah Ibn Umar reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “My companions are like the stars. You will be guided by whatever statement you follow of them.” [Al-Matalib-ul-Aliyah by Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, Hadith 4300]

وقال عبد بن حميد: أخبرني أحمد بن يونس, حدثنا أبو شهاب, عن حمزة الجزري, عن نافع, عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما, قال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم, قال: مثل أصحابي مثل النجوم يهتدى بهم, فأيهم أخذتم بقوله اهتديتم

Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The best of mankind are in my generation. Then those who follow them. Then those who follow them. Then people will appear whose testimony precedes their oath and whose oath precedes their testimony.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 2509]
