Muhammad Ibn Ali reported that Imam Ar-Rida (a.) said:,,God imposed the duty (Fard) on the people, that at the ablution (Wudu’) the woman should start from the underside of her arm and the man from the upper side of the arm.” [Al-Faqih of As-Saduq, Volume 1 Page 41 Hadith 100]

عن محمد بن علي بن الحسين عن الإمام الرضا عليه السلام قال: فرض الله عز وجل على الناس في الوضوء أن تبدأ المرأة بباطن ذراعها والرجل بظاهر الذراع

Muhammad Taqi Al-Majlisi writes: ,,It is clearly indicated that it is the duty for the women, to start from the lower side of the arm and the men from the upper side of the arm.” [Rawdat-ul-Muttaqin, Volume 1 Page 162]

قال الشيخ محمد تقي المجلسي: وظاهرها وجوب ابتداء النساء بباطن الذراع والرجال بظاهر الذراع

Isma’il Ibn Bazi’ reported that Imam Ar-Rida (a.) said: ,,God imposed the duty (Fard) on the women, to begin the ablution for the prayer (Wudu’) from the underside of their arms and on the men from the upper side of their arms.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 3 Page 21 Hadith 6]

علي بن إبراهيم عن أخيه إسحاق بن إبراهيم عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن أبي الحسن الرضا عليه السلام قال: فرض الله على النساء في الوضوء للصلاة أن يبتدئن بباطن أذرعهن وفي الرجال بظاهر الذراع

Baha’ud-Din Al-Amili writes: “It cannot be overlooked, that the saying (hadith) refers to it being a duty (Fard) and to interpret it in such a way, that it is desirable (Mustahab), is utterly absurd.” [Mir’at-ul-Uqul, Volume 13 page 93]

قال الشيخ بهاء الدين العاملي: لا يخفى أن الحديث دال على الوجوب وحمله على الاستحباب بعيد جدا
