Kamal Al-Haidari writes: “The disbeliever (kafir) who rejects Islam and does not believe in it, meaning that he rejects the two creeds or the second creed, are impure (najis) according to obligatory caution. Two types of disbelievers (kuffar) are excluded from impurity: (1.) The people of the book, which are those disbelievers (kuffar) who confess to the heavenly religions that were right at the beginning but were then abolished, such as Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism and (2.) those who confess to Islam, while at the same time expressing aberrant religious beliefs that are contrary to the premises of Islam, such as exaggeration and enmity (to the Imams), therefore those disbelievers (kuffar) are, away from being pure (tahir).” [Minhaj-us-Salihin, page 85]
