Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said:
“I and the people of my house are kept pure, so do not precede them so that you are misled and do not remain behind them so that you are mistaken and do not diverge from them so that you are ignorant and do not teach them, because they are more knowledgeable than you. They are both in the young and the old age the most knowledgeable of the people, so follow the truth and its members wherever it is, and separate yourselves from falsehood and its members wherever it is.” [Al-Ghaibah of An-Nu’mani, Volume 1 Page 50]

روى حضرة النعماني رحمه الله في كتابه الغيبة (ج. ١ ص. ٥٠) عن علي بن أبي طالب عليهما السلام عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله أنه قال: إني وأهل بيتي مطهرون فلا تسبقوهم فتضلوا، ولا تخلفوا عنهم فتزلوا، ولا تخالفوهم فتجهلوا، ولا تعلموهم فإنهم أعلم منكم، هم أعلم الناس صغارا، وأعلم الناس كبارا، فاتبعوا الحق وأهله حيث ما كان، وزايلوا الباطل وأهله حيث ما كان
