Question:

What does Umar narrate about the history of the Kurdish people?

Answer:

Umar Ibn Al-Khattab reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The Kurds are a generation of those who are hidden (jinn), of whom the veil was uncovered. They were called Kurds because Solomon (a.) captured 80 girls from them during his campaign in India and settled them on an island, whereupon the Hidden (Jinn) came out of the sea and had intercourse with them. Therefore 40 girls of them became pregnant and when Solomon (a.) heard about it, he gave the order that they should leave the island and go to the land of the Persians. Thereupon they gave birth to 40 boys, and when they multiplied and caused mischief and committed highway robbery, they complained to Solomon (a.), who then said: “Drive them to the mountains! And for this reason they were called Kurds.” [Muhadarat-ul-Udaba’ by Ar-Raghib Al-Isfahani, Volume 1 Page 378]

Evidence:

Fakhr-ud-Din Ar-Razi writes: “As for the third view, it says that man exists without body and embodiment and this is the statement of most philosophical theologians who advocate the staying of the soul and confirm a spiritual return, reward, punishment and spiritual reckoning for the soul and this view is held by a powerful group of Muslim scholars such as the scholar Abu Al-Qasim Ar-Raghib Al-Isfahani and the scholar Abu Hamid Al-Ghazzali, God embraces them both with His mercy! ” [At-Tafsir-ul-Kabir, Volume 10 page 122]

Jalal-ud-Din As-Suyuti writes: “Imam Fakhr-ud-Din Ar-Razi mentioned in the work of At-Ta’sis-ut-Taqdis among the basic principles that Abu Al-Qasim Ar-Raghib is one of the Sunni Imams.” [Al-Mufradat Fi Gharib Al-Qur’an, page 14]

Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: “Among those who follow the righteous ancestors, their commentators of the Qur’an and their scholars, is the Imam Ar-Raghib Al-Isfahani.” [Ar-Radd-ul-Mufhim, Volume 1 Page 7]

One response to “Umar about Kurds”

  1. […] It speaks of an uncovered group of Kurds who are living in hiding (Jinn) and not of a race, as it is expressed in the books of our enemies by Umar Ibn Al-Khattab [Read here!] […]
