Question:

What do the infallible (a.) say about the group of the Zaidites?

Answer:

Umar Ibn Yazid reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “What is the case with giving alms to the enemy (Nasibi) and those who have split off to Zaid Ibn Ali (a.)?” He said: “Don’t give them anything and if it is possible for you, don’t give them water.” He said: “Those who split off to Zaid Ibn Ali (a.) are the enemies (Nussab).” [Tahdhib-ul-Ahkam of At-Tusi, Volume 4 Page 53 Hadith 12]

وعنه عن يعقوب بن يزيد عن محمد بن عمر عن محمد ابن عذافر عن عمر بن يزيد قال سألته (الصادق عليه السلام) عن الصدقة على النصاب وعلى الزيدية قال: لا تصدق عليهم بشئ، ولا تسقهم من الماء إن استطعت، وقال: الزيدية هم النصاب

Umar Ibn Yazid reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “What about the giving of alms to the enemy (Nasibi) and to those who split off to Zaid Ibn Ali (a.)?” He said: ” You shall not give them alms, and if it is possible for you, you shall not give them water to drink.” He said about the Zaidites: “They are the enemies (Nussab).” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il by Al-Mirza An-Nuri, Volume 7 Page 108 – 109 Hadith 7774]

Abdullah Ibn Al-Mughirah reported that he spoke to Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “I have two neighbours. One of them is an enemy (Nasibi) and the other is splitting off to Zaid Ibn Ali (a.) and it is necessary that i go into their company. To whom shall i join?” He said: “Both are equal. Whoever does not believe in a verse in the Book of God has already turned his back on Islam and denies the whole Qur’an and the Prophets and the Messengers.” Then he said: “This one opposes you, and the one who splits off to Zaid Ibn Ali (a.) opposes us.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 8 Page 235 Hadith 314]
