Muhammad Husain Fadlullah writes:

لماذا لا يجوز أكل لحم الطاووس؟ لا يجوز ذلك لما ورد عن الإمام الرضا عليه السلام: الطاووس لا يحل أكله ولا بيضه

“Why should it not be allowed to eat the flesh of the peacock? It is not allowed because it is reported by Imam Ar-Rida (a.): “The peacock is not allowed (halal) to eat and neither are its eggs.” [Al-Masa’il-ul-Fiqhiyyah, page 281, question 1146]
