Isma’il Ibn Umar Ibn Kathir writes:

روى أبو عبيد القاسم بن سلّام في كتاب فضائل القرآن عن أبي معاوية عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن الأسود عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه أنّه كان يقرأ غَـيْـرِ الْـمَـغْـضُـوبِ عَـلَـيْـهِـمْ وَغَـيْـرِ الـضَّـالِّـيـنَ وهذا إسنادٌ صحيحٌ وكذا حُكي عن أبي بن كعبٍ أنّه قرأ كذلك وهو محمولٌ على أنّه صدر منه على وجه التّفسير

“Abu Ubaid, Qasim Ibn Sallam, narrated in the book Fada’il-ul-Qur’an by Abu Mu’awiyah, narrated by A’mash, narrated by Ibrahim, narrated by Aswad, narrated by Umar Ibnu l-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, that he recited: “Ghairi l-Maghdubi Alaihim Wa Ghairi d-Dallin.” (1:7) And this is a chain that is authentic (Sahih) and so it was narrated by Ubayy Ibn Ka’b that he recited it as well and it is to be interpreted that this was expressed by him in the form of a explanation (Tafsir).” [Tafsir-ul-Qur’ani l-Azim, Volume 1, Page 141]
