Imam Sadiq (a) said: “We are the origin of all good and from our branches is all righteousness. From the righteousness is the Oneness (Tawhid) of Allah and prayer and fasting and the suppression of anger and forgiving others and being merciful to the poor and helpful to neighbours and acknowledging the excellence of the virtuous. Our enemies are the source of all evil and from their branches is all ugliness and immorality. From them is falsehood, wretchedness, slander, separation (of contacts), consumption of interest and consumption of wealth of the orphans without any right, transgression of the laws of Allah, committing immoral acts, the obvious and the hidden, and fornication, and theft, and all that is consistent with the unpleasantness. The one is lying if he claims he is with us while he has bound himself to the branches of others than ours.” [Al-Kafi, vol. 8, page 243, hadith 336]

علي بن محمد بن عبد الله، عن إبراهيم بن إسحاق، عن عبد الله بن حماد، عن ابن مسكان، عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) قال: نحن أصل كل خير ومن فروعنا كل بر، فمن البر التوحيد والصلاة والصيام وكظم الغيظ والعفو عن المسئ ورحمة الفقير وتعهد الجار والاقرار بالفضل لأهله وعدونا أصل كل شر ومن فروعهم كل قبيح وفاحشة فمنهم الكذب والبخل والنميمة والقطيعة وأكل الربا وأكل مال اليتيم بغير حقه و تعدي الحدود التي أمر الله وركوب الفواحش ما ظهر منها وما بطن والزنى والسرقة وكل ما وافق ذلك من القبيح فكذب من زعم أنه معنا وهو متعلق بفروع غيرنا
