Sayf al-Tammar said:,,We, a group of the Shia, were with Abu Abdullah (a) at the Black Stone. He (a) said: “Is there an eye (spy) over us?” We turned to the right and left and saw no one. We said: “There is no one watching us.” He (a) said: “By the Lord of the Ka’aba! By the Lord of the House!” – three times. ,,If I were between Musa (a) and Khidhr (a), I would inform them that I am more knowledgeable than them and that which is not in their hands, for Musa (a) and Khidhr (a) were given the past knowledge and not what will happen until the Day of Resurrection and the Messenger of God (s) was given the knowledge of the past and the knowledge of the future until the Day of Resurrection and we (the Imams) inherited it from the Messenger of God (s).” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 149, chapter 7, hadith 1]

حدثنا أحمد بن إسحاق عن عبد الله بن حماد عن سيف التمار قال كنا مع أبي عبد الله عليه السلام جماعة من الشيعة في الحجر فقال علينا عين فالتفتنا يمنة ويسره فلم نر أحد فقلنا ليس علينا عين قال ورب الكعبة ورب البيت ثلث مرات لو كنت بين موسى والخضر لأخبرتهما انى اعلم منهما ولأنبأتهما بما ليس في أيديهما لان موسى و الخضر أعطيا علم ما كان ولم يعطيا علم ما هو كائن إلى يوم القيمة وان رسول الله أعطى علم ما كان وما هو كائن إلى يوم القيمة فورثناه من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وراثة

Mu’awiyah ibn Wahab said: ,,I asked permission to see Abu Abdullah (a). He (a) allowed me and I heard him say in his speech: “O the One who entrusted us with succession and gave us the knowledge of the past and the future and inclined the hearts of the people towards us and made us the heirs of the Prophets (a).” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 149, chapter 7, hadith 2]

حدثنا عمران بن موسى عن موسى بن جعفر عليه السلام عن علي بن معبد عن جعفر بن عبد الله عن حماد عن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن عن أبي عمير عن معاوية بن وهب قال استأذنت على أبى عبد الله عليه السلام فاذن لي فسمعته يقول في كلام له يا من خصنا بالوصية وأعطانا علم ما مضى وعلم ما بقي وجعل أفئدة من الناس تهوى إلينا وجعلنا ورثة الأنبياء

From Mu’awiyah, from Abu Abdullah (a), he said: “I heard him (a) say: “O Allah (swt)! O the One who gave us the past and lasting knowledge and made us heirs of the prophets (a) and ended the previous nations with us and entrusted us with succession.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 149, chapter 7, hadith 3]

حدثنا عمران بن موسى عن موسى بن جعفر عن علي بن معبد عن جعفر بن عبد الله عن ابن حماد عن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن عن معاوية بن وهب عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال سمعته يقول اللهم يا من أعطانا علم ما مضى وما بقي وجعلنا ورثة الأنبياء وختم بنا الأمم السالفة وخصنا بالوصية

 

From Abu Abdillah (a) who said: “The Imam (a) hears the conversations in the womb of his mother. When he is on the ground, he stands on a pillar in his city and he sees what is in the other cities.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 457, chapter 10, hadith 1]

حدثنا أحمد بن محمد عن الحسين بن سعيد عن محمد بن الفضيل الأزدي عن بعض رجاله عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام الامام يسمع الكلام في بطن أمه فإذا سقط إلى الأرض نصب له عمود في بلاده وهو يرى ما في غيرها

Muhammad ibn Marwan said: I heard Abu Abdillah (a) say: ,,The Imam hears in the womb of his mother. When he is born, this is written between his shoulders: {And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truthfulness and righteousness. None can change his words} . When the command comes to him, Allah (swt) gives him (a) a pillar of light. He (a) sees what the dwellers of the other towns do.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 457, chapter 10, hadith 2]

حدثنا أحمد بن محمد عن الحسن بن محبوب عن الربيع بن محمد المسلمي عن محمد بن مروان قال سمعت أبا عبد الله عليه السلام يقول إن الامام يسمع في بطن أمه فإذا ولد خط بين كتفيه وتمت كلمة ربك صدقا وعدلا لا مبدل لكلماته فإذا صار الامر إليه جعل الله له عمودا من نور يبصر به ما يعمل به أهل كل بلدة

Al-Fuzail heard Abu Ja’far (a) say: ,,If the Imam (a) is a youth, Allah (swt) raises for him (a) a pillar of light and he (the Imam) knows what is happening in the other towns.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 457, chapter 10, hadith 3]

حدثنا محمد بن عيسى عن الوشا عن محمد بن الفضيل عن محمد بن مروان عن الفضيل بن يسار عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام قال سمعته يقول إن الامام إذا شب رفع الله له في كل قرية عمودا من نور يعلم ما يعمل في القرية الأخرى

Al-Sulami said: ,,I was with ‘Ali ibn al-Husain (a) in his house and there were sparrows in it and they were chirping. He (a) said to me: “Do you know what they are saying?” I said: “I do not know.” He (a) said: “They praise their Lord (swt) and seek their provision.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 361, chapter 14, hadith 1]

حدثنا يعقوب بن يزيد عن الحسن بن علي بن الوشا عمن رواه عن الميثمي عن منصور عن الثمالي قال كنت مع علي بن الحسين عليه السلام في داره وفيها عصافير وهن يصحن فقال لي أتدري ما يقلن هؤلاء قلت لا ادرى قال يسبحن ربهن ويطلبن رزقهن

Abu Hamza al-Thumali said: ,,I was with ‘Ali ibn al-Husain (a) and the sparrows scattered and made noise. He (a) said: “O Abu Hamza! Do you know what they are saying?” I said: “No.” He (a) said: “They praise the holiness of their Lord and ask for their sustenance of the day.” He (Abu Hamza) said: “Then he (a) said: “O Abu Hamza! We have been taught the language of the birds and we have been given everything.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 362, Chapter 14, Hadith 2]

حدثنا محمد بن إسماعيل عن علي بن الحكم عن مالك بن عطية عن أبي حمزة الثمالي قال كنت مع علي بن الحسين فانتشرت العصافير وصوتت فقال يا با حمزة أتدري ما تقول قلت لا قال تقدس ربها وتسئل قوت يومها قال ثم قال يابا حمزة علمنا منطق الطير وأوتينا من كل شئ

From Abu ‘Abdillah (a) who said: “A man recited this verse in his (a) presence: {We have been taught the language of the birds and of all things} [27:16]. Abu ‘Abdillah (a) said: “There is no “of” in it. But it is : “We have been given all things.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 362, chapter 14, hadith 3]

حدثنا أحمد بن محمد عن محمد بن خلف عن بعض رجاله عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال فتلا رجل عنده هذه الآية علمنا منطق الطير وأوتينا من كل شئ فقال أبو عبد الله عليه السلام ليس فيها من إنما هي وأوتينا كل شئ

From Fuzail ibn Yaser, from Abu Abdillah (a), the narrator said: ,,I was in his (a) presence when I looked at a pair of pigeons. The male was cooing at his female. He (a) said to me: “Do you know what he said?” I said: “No.” He (a) said: “He said: “O my housemate and my bride! There is no creation dearer to me than you except my master Ja’far ibn Muhammad (a).” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 362, chapter 14, hadith 4]

حدثنا أحمد بن محمد عن أحمد بن يوسف عن داود الحداد عن فضيل بن يسار عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال كنت عنده إذ نظرت إلى زوج حمام عنده فهدر الذكر على الأنثى فقال لي أتدري ما يقول قلت لا قال يقول يا سكنى وعرسي ما خلق أحب إلى منك الا أن يكون مولاي جعفر بن محمد

Abu Abdillah (a) said to me: “O Ammar! Abu Muslim fazallalahu fakasahu basatour.” I said: “May I be sacrificed to you! I have never seen such an eloquent Nabataean (speaking) as you.” He said: “O Ammar! And so (eloquent) in all languages.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 353, chapter 11, hadith 4]

حدثنا أحمد بن محمد عن ابن أبي القاسم وعبد الله بن عمران عن محمد بن بشير عن رجل عن عمار الساباطي قال قال لي أبو عبد الله عليه السلام يا عمار أبو مسلم فظلله فكساه فكسحه بساطورا قلت جعلت فداك ما رأيت نبطيا أفصح منك فقال يا عمار و بكل لسان

 

I said to Abu Abdillah (a): “May I be sacrificed to you! We eat the slaughtered of the People of the Book and we do not know whether they pronounce the name (Allah) on it or not.” He (a) said: “If you hear them pronouncing the name, then eat. Do you know what they say on their slaughtered food?” I said: “No.” So he read (a), as if he resembled a Jew: “Qad fazzaha.” Then he (a) said: “With this they were commanded.” I said: “May I be sacrificed to you! If you think it is right, we will write it down.” He (a) said: “Write: ,,Nuh abouh addenu yalhabaz aalim ashrasu aw razou banu yus’a muwsaq dagal astahu.” [Basaair al-Darajaat, page 353, chapter 11, hadith 5.]

حدثنا الحسن بن محمد عن أبيه محمد بن علي بن شريف عن علي بن أسباط عن إسماعيل بن عباد عن عامر بن علي الجامعي قال قلت لأبي عبد الله عليه السلام جعلت فداك انا نأكل ذبايح أهل الكتاب ولا ندري يسمون عليها أم لا فقال إذا سمعتهم قد سموا فكلوا أتدري ما يقولون على ذبايحهم فقلت لا فقرأ كأنه يشبه يهودي قد هذها (كذا في المتن) ثم قال بهذا أمروا فقلت جعلت فداك ان رأيت أن نكتبها فقال اكتب نوح ايوا ادينوا يلهيز مالحوا عالم اشرسوا أو رضوا بنو يوسعه موسق دغال اسطحوا

It is transmitted through Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Al-Husain ibn Sa’eed, from Al-Nazar ibn Suwayd, from Al-Qasim ibn Sulayman, from Jabir, who said:

Abu Ja’far (a) said concerning the verse: Say: “Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and the one who has the knowledge of the Book.” [13:43]. “That one is Ali ibn Abi Talib (a).” [Basaair al Darajaat, Part 5, Chapter 1, Hadith 4].

حدثني احمد بن محمد عن الحسين بن سعيد عن النضر بن سويد عن القسم بن سليمان عن جابر قال قال أبو جعفر ع في هذه الاية قل كفى بالله شهيدا بيني و بينكم و من عنده علم الكتاب قال هو علي بن ابي طالب ع

It is transmitted through Fudhail ibn Yaser regarding the Qur’anic verse: Say: “Allah suffices as a witness between me and you and the one who has the knowledge of the book.” [13:43], Imam Baqir (a) said: “This verse was revealed in praise of Ali (a) who was the most knowledgeable of the nation after the Prophet (s).” [Tafsir ul Ayashi, Vol. 2, page 221.]

عن الفضيل بن يسار عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام في قوله: (ومن عنده علم الكتاب) قال: نزلت في علي عليه السلام، انه عالم هذه الأمة بعد النبي صلوات الله عليه وآله

On explaining the verse Say: “Allah suffices as a witness between me and you and the one who has the knowledge of the Book.” [13:43], Imam Baqir (a) said: “Ali (a) is the possessor of the knowledge of the Book.” [Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 35, p. 430]

بصائر الدرجات: ابن فضال، عن أبيه، عن إبراهيم الأشعري، عن محمد بن مروان، عن نجم عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام في قول الله عز وجل: (قل كفى بالله شهيدا بيني وبينكم ومنعنده علم الكتاب) قال: صاحب علم الكتاب علي عليه السلام

Abu Basir said when they asked about the verse Say: “Allah suffices as a witness between me and you and the one who has the knowledge of the Book.” [13:43], whether it was addressed to Imam Ali (a). So Imam Sadiq (a) replied: “How could anyone else be meant by it?” [Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 35, p. 431; original source: Basaair al Darajaat]

بصائر الدرجات: أحمد بن محمد، عن الأهوازي، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن حماد بن عثمان، عن أبي بصير، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال، سألته عن قول الله عز وجل: (قل كفى بالله شهيدا بيني وبينكم ومن عنده علم الكتاب) قلت: أهو علي بن أبي طالب؟ قال: فمن عسى أن يكون غيره؟

It is transmitted to me through Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Al-Ahwazy, from Al-Nazar, from Al-Qasim ibn Sulayman, from Jabir from Abu Ja’far (a) concerning the words of Allah (swt): “Say: Are those who know and those who do not know equal? Indeed, only those with understanding take heed.” [39:9] He said: “We (Imams) are those who know and our enemies are those who do not know and our Shias are those with understanding.” [Basaair ul Darajaat, page 108, chapter 24, hadith 1]

حدثني صائر الدرجات احمد بن محمد عن الأهوازي عن النضر عن القاسم بن سليمان عن جابر عن أبي جعفر ع في قول الله عز و جل قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الَّذِيْنَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ وَالَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ اِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ اُولُوا الْاَلْبَابِ فقال نحن الذين نعلم و عدونا الذين لا يعلمون و شيعتنا أولو الألباب

Muhammad ibn al Hasan al-Saffar said: It has been transmitted to me through Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Al Hasan ibn Zayd ibn Ali ibn al Husain, from his father from Abu Abdillah (as), who said: ,,The Messenger of God (s) said: “The seeking of knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim and Allah loves the one who seeks knowledge.” [Basaair al Darajaat, page 31, chapter 1, hadith 1]
