Qur’an:

“O you who believe, only the associates are impure.” [At-Tawbah 9:28]

يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس

Sunnah:

Mufaddal Ibn Umar reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God will neither dignify His servant with a glance nor declare him pure, if he neglects an obligation from among the obligations imposed by God or commits one of the great sins.” I said: “God does not give him a glance?” He said: “Yes, he has associated someone with God.” I said: “He has associated someone with God?” He said: “Yes, for God gave him a order and the devil gave him an order, whereupon he neglected what God ordered him to do and he followed what the devil ordered him to do. Therefore, that one is with the devil in the seventh level of the Fire.” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Amili, Volume 1 Page 37 Hadith 17]

عن المفضل بن عمر عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: لا ينظر الله إلى عبده، ولا يزكيه إذا ترك فريضة من فرائض الله، أو ارتكب كبيرة من الكبائر، قال: قلت: لا ينظر الله إليه؟! قال: نعم، قد أشرك بالله، قلت: أشرك بالله؟! قال: نعم، إن الله أمره بأمر وأمره إبليس بأمر، فترك ما أمر الله عز وجل وبه، وصار إلى ما أمر به إبليس، فهذا مع إبليس في الدرك السابع من النار

Zurarah reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “The small ablution (wudu’) is merely one of the limits of God, so that God may know who obeys Him and who disobeys Him and nothing makes the believer impure. To Him suffices merely that which is like the rubbing.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 3 page 21 Hadith 2]

عن زرارة عن الإمام الباقر عليه السلام قال: إنما الوضوء حد من حدود الله ليعلم الله من يطيعه ومن يعصيه وإن المؤمن لا ينجسه شئ إنما يكفيه مثل الدهن

Sabah ibn Sayabah reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) was asked: “Do you consider the fornicator as a believer when he is in the state of illegitimate intercourse?” He said: “No, if he lies on her belly, then the state of belief is taken away from him and if he stands up, then the state of belief returns to him.” They asked: “But if he wants to return?” He said: “He does not increase, who seeks, to return. He then does not return.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 66 Page 190 Hadith 4]

ثواب الأعمال: عن أبيه، عن علي، عن أبيه، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن معاوية بن عمار عن صباح بن سيابة قال: كنت عند أبي عبد الله عليه السلام فقيل له: ترى الزاني حين يزني وهو مؤمن؟ قال: لا، إذا كان على بطنها سلب الايمان منه، فإذا قام رد عليه قال: فإنه إن أراد أن يعود؟ قال: ما أكثر من يهم أن يعود ثم لا يعود

Ali Ibn Husain reported that Imam Ar-Rida (a.) said: “If you have sweated in your clothes, while being in a state of avoidance (Janabah) and it entered through what is permitted, then the prayer is permitted in it, but if it entered through what is forbidden, then prayer is not permitted in it until it is washed.” [Al-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah of Al-Bahrani, Volume 5 page 217]

عن علي بن الحسين عن الإمام الرضا عليه السلام قال: إن عرقت في ثوبك وأنت جنب وكانت الجنابة من الحلال فتجوز الصلاة فيه وإن كانت حراما فلا تجوز الصلاة فيه حتى يغسل

Muhammad ibn Ali reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “Whoever has been obedient to God, is one of our close ones and whoever has been disobedient to God, is one of our enemies. No one attains nearness (wilayah) to us except through abstinence and action.” [Al-I’tiqadat of As-Saduq, page 112 – 113]

عن محمد بن علي عن الإمام الباقر عليه السلام قال: من كان لله مطيعا فهو لنا ولي ومن كان لله عاصيا فهو لنا عدو لا تنال ولايتنا إلا بالورع والعمل

Abdullah Ibn Abi Ya’fur reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God did not create a creature, which is more impure than the dog and the enemy of us, the people of the House, is more impure than the dog.” Muhammad Hasan Al-Jawahiri wrote: “Trustworthy (Muwaththaq).” [Jawahir-ul-Kalam, Vol. 6 page 63.]

عن عبد الله بن أبي يعفور عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: إن الله تبارك وتعالى لم يخلق خلقا أنجس من الكلب وإن الناصب لنا أهل البيت لأنجس منه وقال محمد حسن الجواهري: في الموثق

Muhammad ibn Dawud reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “This world is a carcass, and those, who desire it, are dogs. So whoever desires anything from it, he has to endure the company of dogs.” [Sharh Ihqaq Al-Haqq of Al-Mar’ashi, Volume 32 page 237]

عن محمد بن محمود عن محمد بن داود عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: الدنيا جيفة وطالبها كلاب فمن أراد منها شيئا فليصبر على مخالطة الكلاب

Abbas ibn Muhammad reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “By God, your world is lower in my eyes than the bones of a pig in the hand of a leper.” [Manazil-ul-Akhirah of Al-Qumi, page 280]

عن عباس بن محمد عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: والله لدنياكم هذه أهون في عيني من عراق خنزير في يد مجذوم

It was reported to Ibn Sinan that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Whoever associates someone whose leadership is not from God, with an Imam whose leadership is from God, he is an associator (mushrik).” [Al-Ghaibah of An-Nu’mani, page 129 Hadith 8]

عن رجال ابن سنان عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: من أشرك مع إمام إمامته من عند الله من ليست إمامته من الله كان مشركا

Qur’an:

“O you who believe, only the associates are impure, so they should keep away from the sacred place of prostration (masjid) after their year and should you fear poverty, then God will enrich you with His bounty if He willed, God is the Knowing and the Wise.” [At-Tawbah 9:28]

يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام بعد عامهم هذا وإن خفتم عيلة فسوف يغنيكم الله من فضله إن شاء إن الله عليم حكيم

Sunnah:

Nu’man Ibn Muhammad reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “Your Jews, your Nazarenes, your children and your insane should keep away from your places of prostration (masjid) or God will turn you into monkeys and pigs while bowing and prostrating and God has already said: “Only the associates are impure, so let them keep away from the sacred place of prostration.” (9:28) [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 3 page 392 Hadith 2]

عن نعمان بن محمد عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: لتمنعن مساجدكم يهودكم و نصاراكم و صبيانكم و مجانينكم أو ليمسخنكم الله قردة و خنازير ركعا وسجدا وقد قال الله عز وجل إنما ٱلمشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام

Musa Al-Kazim (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “You should keep away your children and your insane from your places of prostration and also your buying and selling and locate the places of your purification at the entrances of your places of prostration.” [Tadhib-ul-Ahkam of At-Tusi, Volume 3 page 254 Hadith 22]

عن موسى الكاظم عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: جنبوا مساجدكم صبيانكم ومجانينكم وشراءكم وبيعكم واجعلوا مطاهركم على أبواب مساجدكم

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “One of you shall keep away your Jews, your Nazarenes and your children from your places of prostration or God will turn (you) into monkeys and pigs while bowing and prostrating.” [An-Nawadir of Ar-Rawandi, page 241]

عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: ليمنعن أحدكم مساجدكم يهودكم ونصاراكم وصبيانكم أو ليمسخن الله تعالى قردة وخنازير ركعا سجدا

Zaid Ibn Ali (a.) reported that Imam Al-Husain (a.) said: “Ali (a.) saw a man in the house of prayer of the Messenger (s.), pretending to be a woman and said to him: “Go out from the house of prayer of the Messenger (s.), O you whom the Messenger (s.) has cursed! I heard Prophet Muhammad (s.) say: “May God curse those of the men who look like women and those of the women who look like men!” In another tradition he said: “Remove them from your homes, for they are the most impure of all things.” [Ilal-ush-Shara’i of As-Saduq, Volume 2 page 602 Hadith 63]

عن زيد بن علي عليه السلام عن عن آبائه عليهم السلام عن علي عليه السلام انه رأى رجلا به تأنيث في مسجد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال له: اخرج من مسجد رسول الله يا من لعنه رسول الله، ثم قال علي عليه السلام: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله يقول: لعن الله المتشبهين من الرجال بالنساء والمتشبهات من النساء بالرجال وفي حديث آخر أخرجوهم من بيوتكم فإنهم أقذر شئ

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “You shall keep your places of prostration away from your insane nd children and also from raising your voices except in remembrance of God and from your selling and your buying and your weapons and you shall cleanse it every seven days with charcoal stones and put the places for purification at its entrances.” [Al-Hada’iq-un-Nadirah of Al-Bahrani, Volume 7 page 269]

عن علي بن أبي طالب عليهما السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: جنبوا مساجدكم مجانينكم وصبيانكم ورفع أصواتكم إلا بذكر الله تعالى وبيعكم وشراءكم وسلاحكم وجمروها في كل سبعة أيام وضعوا المطاهر على أبوابها

Muhammad ibn Ali As-Saduq writes: “The Prophet (s) heard a man loudly demanding things that had been lost at the place of Prostration, whereupon he said: “Say to him: “May God not return to you your things that have been lost!” For this has not been built for it!” [Man La Yahduruh-ul-Faqih, Volume 1 page 237 Hadith 716]

قال أبو جعفر الصدوق: و سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وآله رجلا ينشد ضالة في المسجد، فقال: قولوا له لا رد الله عليك ضالتك فإنها لغير هذا بنيت

Muhammad ibn Ali reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “You should keep away your children and your insane from your places of prostration and also the raising of your voices, your buying, your selling, the lost, the border penalties (Hudud) and the judgments.” [Man La Yahduruh-ul-Faqih of As-Saduq, Volume 1 page 237 Hadith 715]

عن محمد بن علي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: جنبوا مساجدكم صبيانكم، ومجانينكم ورفع أصواتكم وشراءكم وبيعكم، والضالة والحدود والأحكام

Husain ibn Muhammad reported that Muhammad ibn Nu’man said: “The Messenger (s.) forbade the execution of the border penalties (hudud) in the places of prostration and the Commander of the Believers (a.) ordered those on whom a boundary penalty was executed, to be thrown out of the place of prostration.” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il of An-Nuri, Volume 18 Page 36 Hadith 2]

عن حسين بن محمد عن محمد بن نعمان عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله أنه نهى إقامة الحدود في المساجد وكان أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام يأمر بإخراج من عليه حد من المسجد

It was reported to Ibn Asbat that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “You should keep your places of prostration away from selling, buying, the insane, the children, the judgments, the lost, the border penalties (Hudud) and the raising of the voice.” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Amili, Volume 3 page 507 Hadith 1]

عن رجال ابن أسباط عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: جنبوا مساجدكم البيع والشراء والمجانين والصبيان والاحكام والضالة والحدود ورفع الصوت

Jabir ibn Abdillah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “If I were still (alive), I would throw out the associates from the Arabian Peninsula.” [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 3 page 392 Hadith 1]

عن جابر بن عبد الله عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: لئن بقيت لأخرجن المشركين من جزيرة العرب

Ali Ibn Ibrahim Al-Qumi writes: “As for the verse: “O you who believe, only the associates are impure, so they should keep away from the sacred place of prostration after their year and should you fear poverty, then God will enrich you with His bounty if He so willed, God is the Knowing and the Wise.” (9:28) Thus it is connected with the verse: “Say: If you love your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your tribe, a fortune you have acquired, a trade you fear to lose and dwellings that please you, more than you love God and His Messenger and the striving in His way, then wait until God comes with His command and God does not guide the wicked people rightly.” (9:24) [Tafsir-ul-Qumi, Volume 1 page 288]

قال أبو الحسن القمي: قوله يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام بعد عامهم هذا وان خفتم علية فسوف يغنيكم الله من فضله ان شاء ان الله عليم حكيم وهي معطوفة على قوله قل إن كان آباؤكم الآية
