He (the devil) said: “My Lord, with that, which You made me go astray, I will beautify it for them on the earth and make them all go astray, except Your chosen servants from among them.” He (God) said: “This is a path, that is straight for Me.” [Al-Hijr 15:39-43]

قال رب بما أغويتني لأزينن لهم في الأرض ولأغوينهم أجمعين إلا عبادك منهم المخلصين قال هذا صراط عليَّ مستقيم

Sallam ibn Al-Mustanir reported that he asked Imam Al-Baqir (a.): “What is it about the word of God in His Book: ﴾This is a path, that is straight for Me (Siratu Alayya)?﴿” (15:41) He said: “The path of Ali, the son of Abu Talib (a.).” I said: “The path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin)?” He said: “The path of Ali.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Vol. 35, page 372, Hadith 18.]

عن فرات بن إبراهيم عن الحسين بن سعيد عن سلام بن المستنير عن الإمام الباقر عليه السلام قال: قلت ما قول الله عز وجل في كتابه قال هذا صراط عليَّ مستقيم؟ قال: صراطُ عليِّ بن أبي طالبٍ عليه السلام فقلت: صراطُ عليٍّ عليه السلام؟ قال: صراطُ عليٍّ عليه السلام

Zain-ul-Abidin (a.) reported that Imam Al-Husain (a.) said: “Umar Ibnu l-Khattab came before the Prophet (s.) and said: ﴾You keep saying to Ali, son of Abu Talib: “You have a position with me, that Aaron has with Moses.” Whereas God mentioned Aaron in the Qur’an, but He did not mention Ali.﴿ Hereupon he said: ﴾O crude one, O Bedouin, do you not hear Him saying: “This is the path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin), which is straight?﴿” (15:41) [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 4, Page 393, Hadith 3]

محمد بن أحمد بن علي بن الحسين بن شاذان عن جعفر بن محمد عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن الحسين عن الحسين بن علي عليهم السلام قال: قام عمر بن الخطاب إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله فقال: إنك لا تزال تقول لعلي بن أبي طالب: أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى وقد ذكر الله هارون في القرآن ولم يذكر عليا فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله: يا غليظ يا أعرابي إنك ما تسمع ما يقول: هَذَا صِرَاطُ عَلِيٍّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

Abu Hamzah reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said about the verse: ﴾This is the path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin), which is straight.﴿ (15:41): “By God, it is Ali (a.). By God, He is the path and the scale.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Vol. 35, page 363, Hadith 2.]

عن محمد بن الحسن عن عمران بن موسى عن موسى بن جعفر عن ابن أسباط البغدادي عن محمد بن الفضيل عن أبي حمزة الثمالي عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام هذا صراط عليٍّ مستقيم قال: هو والله علي عليه السلام هو والله الصراط والميزان

Abdullah ibn Muhammad reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said about the verse: ﴾This is the path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin), which is straight.﴿ (15:41): “It is the Commander of the believers (a.).” [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Vol. 4, page 393, Hadith 4]

عن محمد بن مسعود عن أبي جميلة عن عبد الله بن محمد عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام عن قوله هذا صراط عليٍّ مستقيم قال: هو أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام

Someone reported Ibn Udhainah that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “The Second (Umar) came before the Messenger of God (s.) and said: ﴾You keep saying to Ali: “You have with me, a position that Aaron has with Moses.” Whereas God mentioned Aaron in the Qur’an, but He did not mention Ali.﴿ Hereupon he said: ﴾O crude one, did you not hear the word of God: “This is the path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin), which is straight?﴿” (15:41) [Al-Qira’at of As-Sayyari, page 74, page 286]

عن محمد بن أحمد عن منصور عن ابن أسباط عن الحكم بن البهلول عن أبي همام عن ابن أذينة عن رجل عن أحدهما عليهما السلام قال: قام الثاني (عمر) إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال: إنك لا تزال تقول لعلي: أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى وقد ذكر الله عز وجل هارون في القرآن ولم يذكر عليا فقال: يا غليظ أما سمعت قول الله عز وجل وإن هذا صراط عليٍّ مستقيم؟

Muhammad ibn Mu’min reported that Qatadah ibn Di’amah said: “Hasan Al-Basri used to read it this way: ﴾This is the straight path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin).﴿ (15:41) I asked Hasan: ﴾What is meant by this? ﴿ He said: ﴾This is the path of Ali, son of Abu Talib (a.) and his religion is a path and a straight faith, so follow it and hold on to it, for it is clear and there is nothing crooked in it.﴿” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 36, Page 167]

عن محمد بن مؤمن عن قتادة بن دعامة عن الحسن البصري قال: كان يقرأ هذا الحرف صراطُ عليٍّ مستقيم فقلت للحسن: وما معناه قال يقول: هذا طريق علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام ودينه طريق ودين مستقيم فاتبعوه وتمسكوا به فإنه واضح لا عوج فيه

Hisham ibn Hakam reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “This is the path of Ali (Siratu Aliyyin), which is straight.” (15:51) [Al-Burhan of Al-Bahrani, Volume 4, Page 393, Hadith 1]

عن محمد بن يعقوب عن أحمد بن مهران عن عبد العظيم عن هشام بن الحكم عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: هذا صراط عليٍّ مستقيم

The reading here is: هَـٰذَا صِرَاطُ عَلِيٍّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

„Hāḏā Ṣirāṭu ʿAliyyin Mustaqīm.”

The majority reads it like: هَـٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

„Hāḏā Ṣirāṭun ʿAlayya Mustaqīm.”
