Qur’an:

“This community of yours is one community and I am your Lord, so fear Me. Then they divided their cause among themselves into parts. Each group enjoyed what is with them, so leave them in their frenzy for a time.” [Al-Mu’minun 23:52-54]

وإن هذه أمتكم أمة واحدة وأنا ربكم فاتقون فتقطعوا أمرهم بينهم زبرا كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون فذرهم في غمرتهم حتى حين

Sunnah:

Abu Al-Jarud reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said about the verse: “This community of yours is one community.” (23:52): “It is the family of Muhammad (a.).” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 24 page 158]

Abdullah ibn Umar reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “With my community will happen, that which happened to the Children of Israel, one example after another. They divided into 72 groups, while my community will divide into 73 groups and will have one more group compared to them. They are all in the Fire except one.” Someone said: “O Messenger of God, which is that one?” He said: “It is the one, on which I and the people of my household find ourselves today.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Vol. 28 page 4]

معاني الأخبار محمد بن أحمد التميمي، عن محمد بن إدريس الشامي، عن إسحاق بن إسرائيل، عن عبد الرحمن بن محمد المحاربي، عن الإفريقي، عن عبد الله بن يزيد عن عبد الله بن عمر قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم سيأتي على أمتي ما أتى على بني إسرائيل مثل بمثل وإنهم تفرقوا على اثنتين وسبعين ملة، وستفرق أمتي على ثلاث وسبعين ملة، تزيد عليهم واحدة كلها في النار غير واحدة، قال: قيل: يا رسول الله وما تلك الواحدة؟ قال: هو ما نحن عليه اليوم أنا وأهل بيتي
