“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but the Messenger of God and the Seal of the Prophets. And God knows about all things.” [Al-Ahzab 33:40]

ما كان محمد أبا أحد من رجالكم ولكن رسول الله وخاتم النبيين وكان الله بكل شيء عليما

Umm Hani reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “God appointed for every Prophet a representative.” [Manaqib Al Abi Talib by Ibn Shahr Ashub, Volume 2, Page 247]

المسعودي عن عمر بن زياد الباهلي عن شريك بن الفضيل بن سلمة عن أم هاني بنت أبي طالب عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم أنه قال: ان الله جعل لكل نبي وصيا

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The one who is authorized by me during my lifetime and after my death is only one.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, vol. 1, p. 356, hadith 15]

علي بن محمد، عن بعض أصحابنا ذكر اسمه قال: حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم قال: أخبرنا موسى بن محمد بن إسماعيل بن عبيد الله بن العباس بن علي بن أبي طالب قال: حدثني جعفر بن زيد بن موسى، عن أبيه عن آبائه عليهم السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم أنه قال: وصيي في حياتي وبعد مماتي واحد

Abu Al-Hijaz reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “The Messenger (s.) put a seal on 124,000 prophets and I put a seal on 124,000 representatives. I was given a responsibility which none of the representatives before me used to bear and God is the One through Whom one seeks help.” [Basa’ir-ud-Darajat of As-Saffar, page 141, Hadith 1]

حدثنا محمد بن الحسين عن عبد الله بن جبلة عن داود الرقي عن أبي حمزة الثمالي عن أبي الحجاز قال قال أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله ختم مأة الف نبي وأربعة وعشرين الف نبي وختمت انا مأة الف وصى وأربعة وعشرين الف وصى وكلفت وما تكلف الأوصياء قبلي والله المستعان

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “O Ali, I did not ask my Lord for anything except the same, but He said: “There is no prophethood after you. You are the seal of the prophets and Ali is the seal of the representatives.” [Uyun-ul-Akhbar of As-Saduq, Volume 1, Page 78, Hadith 337]

حدثنا محمد أحمد بن الحسين بن يوسف البغدادي، قال: حدثنا علي بن محمد بن عيينة، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن سليمان الملطي في مشهد علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام، قال: حدثنا محمد بن القاسم بن العباس بن موسى العلوي بقصر ابن هبيرة ودارم بن قبيصة بن نهشل النهشلي، قالوا حدثنا علي بن موسى بن جعفر، عن أبيه عن آبائه عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله و سلم يا علي ما سألت ربي شيئا إلا سألت مثله غير إنه قال لا نبوة بعدك، أنت خاتم النبيين وعلي خاتم الوصيين

Muhammad ibn Ali reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “No prophet is granted prophethood until he receives a seal from Muhammad (s.) and for this reason he was called the seal of the prophets.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 39, Page 347, Hadith 20]

عن محمد بن علي عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: ولم يجز لنبي نبوة حتى يأخذ خاتما من محمد صلى الله عليه وآله فلذلك سمي خاتم النبيين

As-Samman reported from his father that Imam Al-Husain (a.) said: “A Bedouin said: “I testify that there is no God but God and I testify that you are truly the Messenger of God, so tell me if anyone is a prophet after you, O Messenger of God!” He said: ‘No, for I am the seal of the prophets, but after me there will be Imams from among my children who will rise in righteousness and whose number will be that of the leaders of the children of Israel.” [Kifayat-ul-Athar of Al-Khazzaz Al-Qummi, page 173.]

حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن محمد، قال حدثنا الشريف الحسين بن علي بن عبد الله بن الموسى القاضي، قال حدثنا حريز بن عبد الحميد الضبي، قال حدثنا الأعمش، عن إبراهيم يزيد السمان، عن أبيه، عن الحسين بن علي عليهما السلام قال: فقال الأعرابي: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأنك رسول الله حقا، فأخبرني يا رسول الله هل يكون بعدك نبي؟ قال: لا أنا خاتم النبيين، ولكن يكون بعدي أئمة من ذريتي قوامون بالقسط كعدد نقباء بني إسرائيل

Salih ibn Sahl reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Some of the Quraish said to the Messenger of God (s.): “By what did you precede the [previous] Prophets and become more excellent than them, although you are the last and the seal of them that is raised?” He said: “I was the first, to promise my Lord and the first, to answer, when God received the covenant of the prophets and made them testify about themselves: “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes, you are.” (7:172) I was the first prophet who said: “Yes, you are.” So I preceded them by the acceptance of God.” [Ilal-ush-Shara’i of As-Saduq, vol. 1, p. 124]

حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن أحمد الصايغ رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا احمد ابن محمد بن سعيد الكوفي قال: حدثنا جعفر بن عبيد الله عن الحسن بن محبوب عن صالح بن سهل عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال إن بعض قريش قال لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله بأي شئ سبقت الأنبياء وفضلت عليهم وأنت بعثت آخرهم وخاتمهم قال إني كنت أول من أقر بربي جل جلاله وأول من أجاب حيث أخذ الله ميثاق النبيين وأشهدهم على أنفسهم الست بربكم قالوا بلى فكنت أول نبي قال بلى فسبقتهم إلى الاقرار بالله عز وجل

Sulaim Ibn Qais reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “As for the Messenger (s.), he is the seal of the Prophets, to which there is no Messenger and no Prophet after him. The Prophets were sealed by Muhammad (s.) until the Day of Resurrection and the Books were sealed by the Qur’an until the Day of Resurrection.” [Kitab Sulaim of Al-Hilali, page 207]

عن أبان بن ابي عياش عن سليم بن قيس عن علي بن أبي طال عليه السلام قال: أما رسول الله فخاتم النبيين ليس بعده رسول ولا نبي، ختم الأنبياء برسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله إلى يوم القيامة، وختم بالقرآن الكتب إلى يوم القيامة

Ni’matullah Ibn Muhammad reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “My parable among the prophets is the parable of a man, who builds a wall. Then he completes it until there is a gap for one brick of it. Thus I have been that brick, so there is no messenger after me and no custom (Sunnah) after my custom.” [Lawami’-ul-Anwar of Al-Jaza’iri, page 482]

عن نعمة الله بن محمد عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآلع قال: مثلي في الأنبياء مثل رجل بنى حائطا فأكمله إلا موضع لبنة منه فكنت أنا تلك اللبنة فلا رسول بعدي ولا سنة بعد سنتي

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Peace be upon you, O Prophet and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon the Prophet of God and His Messenger. Peace be upon Gabriel, Michael and the near angels. Peace be upon Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, the Seal of the Prophets, after whom there is no Prophet. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: “Trustworthy (Muwaththaq).” [Tahdhib-ul-Ahkam by At-Tusi, Vol. 2, page 100, Hadith 141; Bihar-ul-Anwar by Al-Majlisi, Vol. 82, page 291]

عن الشيخ الطوسي رحمه الله عن الحسين بن سعيد عن النضر بن سويد عن زرعة عن أبي بصير عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام أنه قال: السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته السلام على أنبياء الله ورسله السلام على جبرئيل وميكائيل والملائكة المقربين السلام على محمد بن عبد الله خاتم النبيين لا نبي بعده والسلام علينا وعلى عباد الله الصالحين. قال محمد باقر المجلسي: موثق

Asma’ Bint Umais reported that Fatimah (a.) said: “Gabriel (a.) descended and said: “O Muhammad, the Exalted One sends you the greeting of peace and says: “The position of Ali with you is the position, that Aaron had with Moses and after you there is no prophet.” [Uyun-ul-Akhbar of As-Saduq, Volume 1, Page 28, Hadith 5]

عن علي بن موسى عن موسى بن جعفر عن جعفر بن محمد عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن الحسين عليهم السلام عن أسماء بنت عميس رضي الله عنها عن فاطمة عليها السلام قالت: هبط جبرائيل فقال يا محمد العلي الاعلى يقرئك السلام ويقول علي منك بمنزلة هارون من موسى ولا نبي بعدك

Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “O people, after me there is no prophet and after my custom (Sunnah) there is no custom. He who claims it after me, his claim and innovation is in the Fire. Execute him and the one who follows him, for he is in the Fire.” [Man La Yahduruh-ul-Faqih of As-Saduq, Volume 4, Page 163, Hadith 5370]

عن علي بن الحكم عن أبان الأحمري عن أبي بصير عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: أيها الناس إنه لا نبي بعدي ولا سنة بعد سنتي، فمن ادعى بعد ذلك فدعواه وبدعته في النار فاقتلوه ومن اتبعه فإنه في النار

Abu Umamah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “O people, after me there is no prophet and after you there is no community (Ummah).” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Hurr Al-Amili, Volume 1, Page 23, Hadith 25]

وعن محمد بن جعفر البندار، عن محمد بن جمهور الحمادي، عن صالح بن محمد البغدادي، عن عمرو بن عثمان الحمصي، عن إسماعيل بن عباس، عن شرحبيل بن مسلم ومحمد بن زياد، عن أبي أمامة، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: أيها الناس، إنه لا نبي بعدي، ولا أمة بعدكم

Muhammad ibn Ali reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I am the first of the prophets who was created and I am the last of the prophets, who was raised.” [Ghawa’il l-Li’ali of Al-Ahsa’i, Volume 4, Page 122, Hadith 202]

عن محمد بن علي بن إبراهيم ابن أبي جمهور عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: أنا أول الأنبياء خلقا وآخرهم بعثا

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The best worship is waiting for the relief. The Hour will not occur until the Rightly Guided (Mahdi) appears and the Rightly Guided (Mahdi) will not appear until 60 liars appear, each of whom claims prophethood.” [Sharh Ihqaqi l-Haqq of Al-Mar’ashi, Volume 13, page 265 – 266]

عن عبد الحسين بن علي عن إبراهيم بن محمد عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: أفضل العبادة انتظار الفرج لا تقوم الساعة حتى يخرج المهدي ولا يخرج المهدي حتى يخرج ستون كذابا كلهم يدعي النبوة

Abdullah ibn Umar reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The Hour will not occur until about 60 liars appear, each of whom says: “I am a prophet.” [Al-Ghaibah of At-Tusi, page 434, Hadith 424]

وأخبرني جماعة، عن التلعكبري، عن أحمد بن علي الرازي، عن محمد بن علي، عن عثمان بن أحمد السماك، عن إبراهيم بن عبد الله الهاشمي، عن يحيى بن أبي طالب عن علي بن عاصم عن عطاء بن السائب عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن عمر قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: لا تقوم الساعة حتى يخرج نحو من ستين كذابا كلهم يقول أنا نبي

Muhammad ibn Husain reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “So did the centuries elapse and the times pass, the fathers preceded and the sons followed up after the fathers, until God called His Messenger Muhammad (a.), that he may fulfill His promise and finalize the prophethood.” [Nahj-ul-Balaghah of Ash-Sharif Ar-Radi, Volume 1, Page 24, Sermon No. 1]

عن محمد بن الحسين بن موسى رضوان الله عليه عن أمير المؤنين عليه السلام أنه قال: على ذلك نسلت القرون ومضت الدهور وسلفت الآباء وخلفت الأبناء. إلى أن بعث الله سبحانه محمدا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله لإنجاز عدته وتمام نبوته

Muhammad ibn Husain reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “My father and mother be sacrificed to you, O Messenger of God, with your death there has been cut off, what has not been cut off in the death of anyone else in prophethood as well as the news and messages from the heaven.” [Nahj-ul-Balaghah of Ash-Sharif Ar-Radi, Volume 2, Page 228, Sermon No. 235]

عن محمد بن الحسين بن موسى رضوان الله عليه عن أمير المؤنين عليه السلام أنه قال: بأبي أنت وأمي لقد انقطع بموتك ما لم ينقطع بموت غيرك من النبوة والأنباء وأخبار السماء

Hasan ibn Abbas reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said about the verse: “They worship Me and do not associate with Me. Those who disbelieve after this, these are the wrongdoers.” (24:55): “They worship Me in the belief that after Muhammad (s.) there is no prophet. Those, who claim otherwise after this, these are the wrongdoers.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, page 150 – 151, Hadith 7]

محمد بن أبي عبد الله ومحمد بن الحسن، عن سهل بن زياد، ومحمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد ابن محمد جميعا، عن الحسن بن العباس بن الحريش عن عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام في قوله تعالى: يعبدونني لا يشركون بي شيئا يقول: يعبدونني بإيمان لا نبي بعد محمد صلى الله عليه وآله فمن قال غير ذلك فأولئك هم الفاسقون

Buraid reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “God sealed the scriptures with your scripture and He sealed the prophets with your prophet.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, Page 177, Hadith 4]

أحمد بن محمد ومحمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين، عن علي بن حسان عن ابن فضال، عن علي بن يعقوب الهاشمي، عن مروان بن مسلم، عن بريد، عن أبي جعفر وأبي عبد الله عليهما السلام قال: لقد ختم الله بكتابكم الكتب وختم بنبيكم الأنبياء

Ayyub Ibn Hurr reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God sealed with your prophet all the prophets, so that after him no one is ever a prophet and He sealed with your scripture all the scriptures, so that after him there is never any scripture.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, Page 269, Hadith 3]

محمد بن يحيى الأشعري، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن البرقي، عن النضر بن سويد عن يحيى بن عمران الحلبي، عن أيوب بن الحر، قال: سمعت أبا عبد الله عليه السلام يقول: إن الله عز ذكره ختم بنبيكم النبيين فلا نبي بعده أبدا، وختم بكتابكم الكتب فلا كتاب بعده أبدا

Isma’il ibn Jabir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God raised Muhammad (s.) and sealed the prophets with him, so after him there is no prophet, and He sent down a scripture to him, by which He sealed the scriptures. So there is no scripture after it.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, vol. 90, page 3]

قال أبو عبد الله محمد بن إبراهيم بن جعفر النعماني رضي الله عنه في كتابه في تفسير القرآن: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد بن عقدة قال: حدثنا أحمد بن يوسف بن يعقوب الجعفي عن إسماعيل بن مهران، عن الحسن بن علي بن أبي حمزة، عن أبيه عن إسماعيل بن جابر قال: سمعت أبا عبد الله جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام يقول: إن الله تبارك وتعالى بعث محمدا فختم به الأنبياء فلا نبي بعده، وأنزل عليه كتابا فختم به الكتب، فلا كتاب بعده

Umayyah Ibn Ali reported that Imam Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) said: “O You Who sealed prophethood with Muhammad (s.), seal my day with good, my year with good, and my life with good!” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il of An-Nuri, Volume 5, Page 380, Hadith 14]

ويقول ما رواه أحمد بن عمان بن أحمد الجباني قال: حدثني أبي، عن علي ابن محمد، عن الحسين بن علي بن سفيان البزوفري، عن علي بن مخلد، عن همام ابن نهيك، عن أحمد بن هليل، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن أمية بن علي عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: يا من ختم النبوة بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله، اختم لي في يومي هذا بخير وسنتي بخير، وعمري بخير

Ali Ibn Suwaid reported that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: “After our Prophet Muhammad (s.) there is no Prophet.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi wrote: “Authentic (Sahih).” [Al-Kafi by Al-Kulaini, Volume 8 page 124 Hadith 95; Mir’at-ul-Uqul by Al-Majlisi, Volume 25, page 295]

عدة من أصحابنا، عن سهل بن زياد، عن إسماعيل بن مهران، عن محمد بن منصور الخزاعي، عن علي بن سويد، ومحمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن عمه حمزة بن بزيع، عن علي بن سويد، والحسن بن محمد، عن محمد بن أحمد النهدي، عن إسماعيل بن مهران، عن محمد بن منصور، عن علي بن سويد عن أبي الحسن موسى عليه السلام قال: ولا نبي بعد نبينا محمد صلى الله عليه وآله. قال محمد باقر المجلسي: صحيح

Ali As-Sa’i reported that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: “After our Prophet there is no Prophet.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, Page 264, Hadith 1]

محمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن محمد بن إسماعيل، عن عمه حمزة بن بزيع، عن علي السائي عن أبي الحسن الأول موسى عليه السلام قال: قال: ولا نبي بعد نبينا

Abd-ul-Aziz Ibn Muslim reported that Imam Ar-Rida (a.) said: “There is no prophet after Muhammad (s.).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, Page 200, Hadith 1]

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق الطالقاني رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا أبو أحمد القاسم بن محمد بن علي الهاروني قال: حدثني أبو حامد عمران بن موسى بن إبراهيم عن الحسن بن القاسم الرقام قال: حدثني القاسم بن مسلم عن أخيه عبد العزيز بن مسلم قال: قال علي بن موسى الرضا عليهم السلام: لا نبي بعد محمد صلى الله عليه وآله

Abu Ja’far At-Tusi writes: “By the seal of the prophets it is meant the last of them, for till the Day of Resurrection there is no prophet after him.” [At-Tibyan-ul-Jami’, Vol. 8, page 346.]

قال الشيخ أبو جعفر الطوسي: في قوله وخاتم النبيين أي آخرهم لأنه لا نبي بعده إلى يوم القيامة

Ali Ibn Ibrahim Al-Qumi writes: “Seal of the prophets means, that after Muhammad (s.) no one is a prophet.” [Tafsir Al-Qummi, Vol. 2 page 194]

قال الشيخ علي بن إبراهيم القمي: وخاتم النبيين يعني لا نبي بعد محمد صلى الله عليه وآله

Fadl Ibn Hasan At-Tabarsi writes: “By the seal of the prophets is meant the last of the prophets, by whom the prophethood was sealed. Therefore, his legislation remains until the Last Day and this is a merit of his by which he stands out among the rest of the Messengers.” [Majma’-ul-Bayan, Vol. 8ܘ page 166]

قال الشيخ الفضل بن الحسن الطبرسي في قوله: وخاتم النبيين أي وآخر النبيين ختمت النبوة به، فشريعته باقية إلى يوم الدين. وهذا فضيلة له، صلوات الله عليه وآله، اختص بها من بين سائر المرسلين

Ja’far As-Subhani writes: “The followers of the Imams (a.), like all other Muslims, believe that the Messenger of the Holy Prophet (s.) is directed to all the worlds, just as they believe that he is the last Messenger. The jurists among the followers of the Imams (a.) judge it as apostasy, if anyone rejects that his Messengership is directed to all the worlds or that he is the last Messenger and for this reason the followers of Babism and Bahaism and likewise the followers of Ahmadiyya are apostates.” [Al-I’tisam Bil-Kitab Wa As-Sunnah, pp. 342 – 343]

قال الشيخ جعفر السبحاني: إن الشيعة الإمامية كسائر المسلمين مؤمنون بعالمية رسالة النبي الأكرم كما هم مؤمنون بخاتمية رسالته. وقال السبحاني: إن فقهاء الشيعة حكموا بارتداد من أنكر عالمية الرسالة، أو خاتميتها، ولأجل ذلك فالبابية والبهائية وهكذا القاديانية مرتدون

Irbad ibn Sariyah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I was appointed as the servant of God to be the seal of the prophets when Adam (a.) was still in the state of formed clay and I am reporting to you the meaning of it: I am the supplication of Abraham (a.) and the glad tidings of Jesus (a.) and the dream that my mother and the mothers of the Prophets (a.) saw.” [Al-Musnad by Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Hadith 16700]

حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا معاوية يعني ابن صالح عن سعيد بن سويد الكلبي عن عبد الله بن هلال السلمي عن عرباض بن سارية قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إني عبد الله لخاتم النبيين وإن آدم عليه السلام لمنجدل في طينته وسأنبئكم بأول ذلك دعوة أبي إبراهيم وبشارة عيسى بي ورؤيا أمي التي رأت وكذلك أمهات النبيين ترين

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that the Messenger (s.) said to Ali (a.): “If I were not the seal of the prophets, then you would have a share in prophethood, but you are not a prophet but the representative of a prophet and his heir and you are the head of the representatives and the Imam of the God-fearing.” [Sharh Nahj Al-Balaghah by Ibn Abi Al-Hadid, Volume 13, Page 210]

عن عبد الحميد بن هبة الله عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم أنه قال لعلي كرم الله وجهه: لولا انى خاتم الأنبياء لكنت شريكا في النبوة، فان لا تكن نبيا فإنك وصى نبي ووارثه، بل أنت سيد الأوصياء وامام الأتقياء

Anas Ibn Malik reported that he heard Prophet Muhammad (s.) say: “I am the seal of the prophets and you, O Ali, are the seal of the close ones (awliya).” [Tarikh Baghdad by Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi, Hadith 3486]

أخبرنا أبو القاسم عبد العزيز بن محمد بن جعفر العطار، قال: حدثنا أبو القاسم عبيد الله بن لؤلؤ الساجي، قال: أخبرنا عمر بن واصل، بالبصرة، سنة ثلاث مائة، قال: سمعت سهل بن عبد الله، في سنة مائتين وخمسين، بالبصرة، يقول: أخبرني محمد بن سوار خالي، قال: حدثنا مالك بن دينار، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن أبي الحسن البصري، عن أنس بن مالك، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: أنا خاتم الأنبياء، وأنت يا علي خاتم الأولياء

Buraidah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Every prophet has a representative and a heir and Ali is the one authorized by me and my heir.” [Tarikh Madinat Dimashq by Ibn Asakir, Hadith 44670]

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله الفراوي، وأبو محمد السيدي، وأبو القاسم الشحامي، قالوا: أنا أبو سعد الجنزرودي، أنا عبد الوهاب بن محمد بن عبد الوهاب الرازي، نا يوسف بن عاصم الرازي، نا محمد بن حميد، نا علي بن مجاهد، عن محمد بن إسحاق، عن شريك بن عبد الله النخعي، عن أبي ربيعة الأيادي، عن ابن بريدة، عن أبيه: أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: إن لكل نبي وصيا ووارثا، وإن عليا وصيي ووارثي

Abu Hazim ibn Dinar reported that Sahl ibn Sa’d said: “When the Messenger (s.) came with the prisoners, Al-Abbas said: “O Messenger of God, let me go to Mecca so that I may emigrate to you as the emigrants emigrated to you.” He said: “Sit down, O uncle, for you are the seal of the emigrants just as I am the seal of the prophets.” [Fada’il-us-Sahabah by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Hadith 1601]

حدثنا عبد الله, قال: حدثني أحمد بن عبد الصمد الأنصاري الحكمي, قال: حدثني إسماعيل بن قيس, عن أبي حازم, عن سهل, قال: لما أتي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بالأسارى, قال العباس: يا رسول الله, دعني فأخرج إلى مكة فأهاجر إليك كما هاجر المهاجرون إليك, قال: اجلس يا عم, فأنت خاتم المهاجرين, كما أنا خاتم النبيين

Khalid reported that Abu Uthman Al-Hindi said about Mujashi’ Ibn Mas’ud: “Mujashi’ came to the Messenger (s.) with his brother Mujalid and said: “This is Mujalid, he is swearing allegiance to you for emigration.” He said: “There is no emigration after the victory over Mecca, but I accept his oath of allegiance to Islam.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 2913]

حدثنا إبراهيم بن موسى أخبرنا يزيد بن زريع عن خالد عن أبي عثمان النهدي عن مجاشع بن مسعود قال جاء مجاشع بأخيه مجالد بن مسعود إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال هذا مجالد يبايعك على الهجرة فقال لا هجرة بعد فتح مكة ولكن أبايعه على الإسلام

Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I am the last of the prophets and my mosque is the last of the mosques.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4271]

فقال لنا عبد الله بن إبراهيم أشهد أني سمعت أبا هريرة يقول قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فإني آخر الأنبياء وإن مسجدي آخر المساجد

Aishah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I am the seal of the Prophets and my mosque is the seal of the mosques of the Prophets.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: “Authentic (Sahih).” [Sahih At-Targhib At-Tarhib, Hadith 1175]

وروى البزار عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنا خاتم الأنبياء ومسجدي خاتم مساجد الأنبياء. قال محمد ناصر الدين الألباني: صحيح

Muhammad ibn Sirin reported that A’ishah said: “Say: Seal of the Prophets and do not say: No Prophet is after him.” [Ad-Durr-ul-Manthur of As-Suyuti, vol. 5, p. 205]

حدثنا حسين بن محمد قال: حدثنا جرير بن حازم، عن محمد يعني ابن سيرين عن عائشة قالت: قولوا: خاتم النبيين، ولا تقولوا: لا نبي بعده

Amir reported that a man said to Mughirah Ibn Shu’bah: “God bless Muhammad, the seal of the prophets. No prophet is after him.” Mughirah said: “It is enough for you to say Seal of the Prophets, for we have been told that Jesus (a.) will come and when he came, he was before him and after him.” [Ad-Durr-ul-Manthur of As-Suyuti, vol. 5, p. 205]

حدثنا أبو أسامة، عن مجالد قال: أخبرنا عامر قال: قال رجل عند المغيرة بن شعبة: صلى اللَّه على محمد خاتم الأنبياء، لا نبي بعده، قال المغيرة: حسبك إذا قلت: خاتم الأنبياء، فإنا كنا نحدث، أن عيسى خارج، فإن هو خرج، فقد كان قبله وبعده

Aws Ibn Aws reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Jesus, the son of Mary (a.), will descend at a white minaret in Damascus.” [Ad-Durr-ul-Manthur of As-Suyuti, vol. 2, p. 245]

وأخرج الطبراني عن أوس بن أوس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ينزل عيسى بن مريم عند المنارة البيضاء في دمشق

Umar Ibn Ali reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “When Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (s.) died, the Prophet (s.) sent a message to his mother Mary (a.). He washed him and wrapped him in a shroud and went out with him and the people also went out with him. The Prophet (s.) buried him and put his hand on his grave. The Messenger (s.) said: “By God, he is for a prophet the son of a prophet.” He cried and the Muslims around him also cried until the voices became louder. Then the Messenger (s.) said: “The eye weeps and the heart mourns, but we do not say that which arouses the anger of the Lord, and for you, O Ibrahim, we mourn.” [Al-Hawi Lil-Fatawa of As-Suyuti, page 120]و

قال ابن عساكر: أنا أبو القاسم زاهر بن طاهر الشحامي, أنا أبو حامد أحمد بن الحسين, أنا أبو محمد الحسن بن أحمد بن أحمد بن محمد, أنا أبو محمد الحسن بن محمد بن الحسن بن محمد بن جابر, ثنا إبراهيم بن الحسن الهمداني, ثنا إسحاق بن محمد الفروي, ثنا عيسى بن عبد الله عن أبيه, عن جده, عن أبي جده (عمر بن علي) عن علي بن أبي طالب قال: لما توفي إبراهيم بن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أرسل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أمه مارية, فجاء به فغسله وكفنه وخرج به وخرج الناس معه فدفنه, وأدخل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يده في قبره فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أما والله إنه لنبي ابن نبي, وبكى وبكى المسلمون حوله حتى ارتفع الصوت ثم قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: تدمع العين ويحزن القلب ولا نقول ما يغضب الرب, وإنا عليك يا إبراهيم لمحزونون

Miqsam ibn Bajrah reported that Abdullah ibn Abbas said: “When Ibrahim son of the Messenger (s.) died, the Prophet (s.) prayed for him and said: “He has a wet nurse in Paradise and if he had lived, he would have become a true Prophet and if he had lived, his Coptic uncles would have been set free and never would a Copt have been enslaved.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: “Authentic (Sahih).” [Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 1511.]

حدثنا عبد القدوس بن محمد حدثنا داود بن شبيب الباهلي حدثنا إبراهيم بن عثمان حدثنا الحكم بن عتيبة عن مقسم عن ابن عباس قال لما مات إبراهيم ابن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى عليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقال إن له مرضعا في الجنة ولو عاش لكان صديقا نبيا ولو عاش لعتقت أخواله القبط وما استرق قبطي. قال محمد ناصر الدين الألباني: صحيح

Isma’il ibn Abi Khalid reported that he asked Abu Awfa: “Have you seen Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (s.)?” He said: “He died at a young age and if it had been decided that someone would become Prophet after Muhammad (s.), then his son would have lived, but no one is Prophet after him.” [Sahih-ul-Bukhari, Hadith 5841]

حدثنا ابن نمير حدثنا محمد بن بشر حدثنا إسماعيل قلت لابن أبي أوفى رأيت إبراهيم ابن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال مات صغيرا ولو قضي أن يكون بعد محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم نبي عاش ابنه ولكن لا نبي بعده

Isma’il ibn Abd Ar-Rahman reported that he asked Anas ibn Malik: “How old did Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (s.) become?” He said: “He was still in his cradle and if he had lived any longer, he would have become a prophet, but he did not remain alive, for your Prophet (s.) is the last of the prophets.” [Al-Bidayah Wa An-Nihayah by Ibn Kathir, Volume 8 page 245]

وقال أسباط, عن السدي, وهو إسماعيل بن عبد الرحمن, قال: سألت أنس بن مالك; قلت: كم بلغ إبراهيم ابن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من العمر؟ قال: قد كان ملأ مهده, ولو بقي لكان نبيا, ولكن لم يكن ليبقى; لأن نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم آخر الأنبياء

Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Nothing remains of prophethood except the glad tidings.” The people said: “And what are glad tidings?” He said: “The good dream.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 6589]

حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري حدثني سعيد بن المسيب أن أبا هريرة قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول لم يبق من النبوة إلا المبشرات قالوا وما المبشرات قال الرؤيا الصالحة

Aishah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Nothing remains after me from prophethood except the glad tidings.” The people said: “O Messenger of God, what are glad tidings?” He said: “The good dream that a man sees or that is shown to him.” Shu’aib Al-Arna’ut writes: “The tradition is authentic (Sahih) and this chain of tradition is good (Hasan).” [Al-Musnad by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Hadith 25021.]

حدثنا عبد الله حدثني أبي ثنا يحيى بن أيوب قال ثنا سعيد بن عبد الرحمن الجمحي عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن عائشة ان النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : لا يبقى بعدي من النبوة شيء الا المبشرات قالوا يا رسول الله وما المبشرات قال الرؤيا الصالحة يراها الرجل أو ترى له. قال شعيب الأرنؤوط : حديث صحيح وهذا إسناد حسن

Anas Ibn Malik reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “Messengership and prophethood have been ended and therefore there is no messenger and no prophet after me.” This depressed the people, whereupon he said: “But there is glad tidings.” They said: “O Messenger of God, what are the glad tidings?” He said: “The dream of a Muslim who is a part of the parts of prophethood.” Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi wrote: “This tradition is good (Hasan) and authentic (Sahih).” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: “The tradition is authentic (Sahih) according to its chain.” [Sunan-ut-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2272]

حدثنا الحسن بن محمد الزعفراني حدثنا عفان بن مسلم حدثنا عبد الواح يعني ابن زياد حدثنا المختار بن فلفل حدثنا أنس بن مالك قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم إن الرسالة والنبوة قد انقطعت فلا رسول بعدي ولا نبي قلا فشق ذلك على الناس فقال لكن المبشرات قالوا يا رسو الله وما المبشرات ؟ قال رؤيا المسلم وهي جزء من أجزاء النبوة. قال أبو عيسى الترمذي: هذا حديث حسن صحيح. وقال محمد ناصر الدين الألباني: صحيح الإسناد

Anas Ibn Malik reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The beautiful dream of a righteous man is one of the 46 parts of prophethood.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani wrote: “Authentic (Sahih).” [Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3893.]

حدثنا هشام بن عمار. حدثنا مالك ين أنس. حدثني إسحاق بن عبد الله بن أبي طلحة عن أنس بن مالك: قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم الرؤيا الحسنة من الرؤيا الحسنة من الرجل الصالح جزء من ستة وأربعين جزءا من النبوة. قال محمد ناصر الدين الألباني: صحيح

Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The Children of Israel used to be led by the prophets. Whenever a prophet died, a prophet succeeded him, but no prophet is after me, but there will be successors who will multiply.” The people said: “What do you command us to do?” He said: “Take the oath of allegiance one by one and give them their due, for God will question them about that which they took upon themselves.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1842]

حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن فرات القزاز عن أبي حازم قال قاعدت أبا هريرة خمس سنين فسمعته يحدث عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال كانت بنو إسرائيل تسوسهم الأنبياء كلما هلك نبي خلفه نبي وإنه لا نبي بعدي وستكون خلفاء تكثر قالوا فما تأمرنا قال فوا ببيعة الأول فالأول وأعطوهم حقهم فإن الله سائلهم عما استرعاهم

Abdullah Ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger (s.) said to Ali (a.): “Your position with me is that which Aaron had with Moses, except that you are not a prophet. It is not befitting for me to pass away without you being my successor of every believer after me.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: “The tradition is good according to its chain (Hasan) and its transmitters are trustworthy (Thiqat).” [Kitab-us-Sunnah by Ibn Abi Asim, Hadith 986; Zilal-ul-Jannah by Al-Albani, Hadith 1188]

ثنا محمد بن المثنى, حدثنا يحيى بن حماد, عن أبي عوانة, عن يحيى بن سليم أبي بلج, عن عمرو بن ميمون, عن ابن عباس, قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعلي: أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى, إلا أنك لست نبيا, إنه لا ينبغي أن أذهب إلا وأنت خليفتي في كل مؤمن من بعدي. قال محمد ناصر الدين الألباني: إسناده حسن ورجاله ثقات

Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas reported that the Messenger (s.) said to Ali (a.): “Your position with me is that which, Aaron had with Moses, except, that there is no prophet after me.” Sa’id ibn Musayyib said: “I wanted to hear this report from Sa’d’s mouth. Therefore, I met Sa’d and reported to him what Amir told me and he said: “I heard him say this.” I said: “You heard him yourself?” Thereupon he put his fingers on his ears and said: “Yes and should it not be true, then may my ears become deaf!” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2404]

حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى التميمي وأبو جعفر محمد بن الصباح وعبيد الله القواريري وسريج بن يونس كلهم عن يوسف بن الماجشون واللفظ لابن الصباح حدثنا يوسف أبو سلمة الماجشون حدثنا محمد بن المنكدر عن سعيد بن المسيب عن عامر بن سعد بن أبي وقاص عن أبيه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعلي أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا أنه لا نبي بعدي قال سعيد فأحببت أن أشافه بها سعدا فلقيت سعدا فحدثته بما حدثني عامر فقال أنا سمعته فقلت آنت سمعته فوضع إصبعيه على أذنيه فقال نعم وإلا فاستكتا

Jabir ibn Abdillah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “My parable and the parable of the Prophets (a.) is that of a man who built a house. He finished it and perfected it except for one place where a brick was missing. Thereupon, he let the people enter and they wondered about it and said: “If only there was one brick!” The Messenger (s.) said: “Therefore, I am in the place of the brick. I appeared and sealed the prophets.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2287]

حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا عفان حدثنا سليم بن حيان حدثنا سعيد بن ميناء عن جابر عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال مثلي ومثل الأنبياء كمثل رجل بنى دارا فأتمها وأكملها إلا موضع لبنة فجعل الناس يدخلونها ويتعجبون منها ويقولون لولا موضع اللبنة قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فأنا موضع اللبنة جئت فختمت الأنبياء

Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The first of the messengers was Adam and the last of the messengers is Muhammad. The first of the Prophets of the Children of Israel was Moses and the last of the Prophets of the Children of Israel was Jesus and the first, to use a pen to write, was Prophet Idris.” [Kanz-ul-Ummal of Al-Muttaqi Al-Hindi, Hadith 32269]

عن أبي ذر رضي الله عنه قال قال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله: أول الرسل آدم وآخرهم محمد، وأول أنبياء بني إسرائيل موسى وآخرهم عيسى، وأول من خط بالقلم إدريس

Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The first prophet of the Children of Israel was Moses and the last prophet of the Children of Israel was Jesus. The first of the prophets was Adam and the last of the prophets is your prophet.” [Al-Bidayah Wa-n-Nihayah by Ibn Kathir, Volume 2, Page 182]

وقد روى ابن حبان في صحيحه، وابن مردويه في تفسيره وغيرهما من طريق إبراهيم بن هشام عن يحيى بن محمد الغساني الشامي – وقد تكلموا فيه – حدثني أبي، عن جدي، عن أبي إدريس، عن أبي ذر قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: وأول نبي من بني إسرائيل موسى وآخرهم عيسى وأول النبيين آدم وآخرهم نبيك

Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I was given six merits before the Prophets (s.): I was given the concise and accurate speech, I was helped by fear, I was allowed the war property, I was given the earth as a means of purification and a place of prostration, I was sent to the entire creation and through me the prophets were sealed.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 812]

وحدثنا يحيى بن أيوب وقتيبة بن سعيد وعلي بن حجر قالوا حدثنا إسمعيل وهو ابن جعفر عن العلاء عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال فضلت على الأنبياء بست أعطيت جوامع الكلم ونصرت بالرعب وأحلت لي الغنائم وجعلت لي الأرض طهورا ومسجدا وأرسلت إلى الخلق كافة وختم بي النبيون

Jubair Ibn Mut’im reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “I bear different names. I am Muhammad and I am Ahmad. I am the Extinguisher through whom God removes disbelief and I am the Gatherer under whom people are gathered. I am the Completer, after which there is no prophet.” Abu Isa At-Tirmdhi writes: “This tradition is good (Hasan) and authentic (Sahih).” [Sunan-ut-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2840.]

حدثنا سعيد بن عبد الرحمن المخزومي حدثنا سفيان عن الزهري عن محمد بن جبير بن مطعم عن أبيه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إن لي أسماء أنا محمد وأنا أحمد وأنا الماحي الذي يمحو الله بي الكفر وأنا الحاشر الذي يحشر الناس على قدمي وأنا العاقب الذي ليس بعدي نبي قال أبو عيسى الترمذي: هذا حديث حسن صحيح

Jubair Ibn Mut’im reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I am Muhammad, I am Ahmad, I am the Gatherer, I am the Extinguisher, I am the Last (Khatim), and I am the Completer.” Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Adh-Dhahabi writes: “This chain of transmission is strong (Qawi) and good (Hasan).” [Siyar A’lam An-Nubala’, vol. 26, p. 38]

وقال حماد بن سلمة, عن جعفر بن أبي وحشية, عن نافع بن جبير بن مطعم, عن أبيه, قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: أنا محمد, وأنا أحمد, وأنا الحاشر, وأنا الماحي, والخاتِم, والعاقب قال محمد بن أحمد الذهبي: وهذا إسناد قوي حسن

Abdullah ibn Amr reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said three times: “I am Muhammad the Prophet and inhabitant of the mother cities and there is no prophet after me.” [Al-Musnad by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Hadith 6428]

عن يحيى عن ابن لهيعة عن عبد الله بن هبيرة عن عبد الرحمن بن مريح الخولاني عن أبي قيس مولى عمرو بن العاص عن عبد الله بن عمرو عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: أنا محمد النبي الأمي قاله ثلاث مرات ولا نبي بعدي

Abu Umamah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “I am the last of the prophets and you are the last of the communities.” [Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4077]

حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا عبد الرحمن المحاربي عن إسمعيل بن رافع أبي رافع عن أبي زرعة السيباني يحيى بن أبي عمرو عن عمرو بن عبد الله عن أبي أمامة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: وأنا آخر الأنبياء وأنتم آخر الأمم

Abu Hurairah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “The Hour will not come until about 30 great liars appear. Each of them claims, to be a messenger of God.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 3363]

حدثني عبد الله بن محمد, حدثنا عبد الرزاق, أخبرنا معمر, عن همام, عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه, عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, قال: ولا تقوم الساعة حتى يبعث دجالون كذابون قريبا من ثلاثين كلهم يزعم أنه رسول الله

Thawban reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “The Hour will not come until some tribes of my community join the idolaters and until they worship idols. There will be 30 liars in my community. Each of them claims to be a prophet, but I am the seal of the prophets, there is no prophet after me.” Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi writes: “This tradition is good (Hasan) and authentic (Sahih).” [Sunan-ut-Tirmidhi, Hadith 2219.]

حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة عن أبي أسماء الرحبي عن ثوبان قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا تقوم الساعة حتى تلحق قبائل من أمتي بالمشركين وحتى يعبدوا الأوثان وإنه سيكون في أمتي ثلاثون كذابون كلهم يزعم أنه نبي وأنا خاتم النبيين لا نبي بعدي قال أبو عيسى الترمذي: هذا حديث حسن صحيح

Hudhaifah Ibn Al-Yaman reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “In my community there will be 27 great liars and among them are four women, but I am the seal of the prophets, there is no prophet after me.” [Al-Mu’jam-ul-Awsat of At-Tabarani, Hadith 5596]

حدثنا محمد بن محمد الجذوعي القاضي, قال: ثنا إبراهيم بن محمد بن عرعرة, قال: ثنا معاذ بن هشام, قال: قرأت في كتاب أبي, بخطه, ولم أسمعه منه عن قتادة, عن أبي معشر, عن إبراهيم, عن همام بن الحارث, عن حذيفة, عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, قال: يكون في أمتي دجالون كذابون سبع وعشرون, ومنهم أربع نسوة, وأنا خاتم النبيين لا نبي بعدي

Jabir ibn Abdillah reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “Before the Hour, there will appear liars. Among them are Musailimah Al-Yamamah, Al-Aswad Al-Ansi, Al-Himyar and the false Messiah and he is the most powerful of temptations among them.” [Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith 6806]

أخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان, قال: حدثنا الحسن بن الصباح البزار, قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن عبد الكريم, قال: أخبرني إبراهيم بن عقيل بن معقل, عن أبيه, عن وهب بن منبه, عن جابر بن عبد الله, قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم, يقول: إن بين يدي الساعة كذابين, منهم صاحب اليمامة, ومنهم صاحب صنعاء العنسي, ومنهم صاحب حمير, ومنهم الدجال وهو أعظمهم فتنة

Samrah ibn Jundub reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “By God, the Hour will not come until 30 liars appear and the last of them is the one-eyed false messiah.” [Al-Musannaf by Ibn Abi Shaibah, Hadith 36811]

حدثنا حدثنا الفضل بن دكين, قال: حدثنا ثعلبة بن عباد العبدي من أهل البصرة, أنه شهد يوما خطبة لسمرة بن جندب, فذكر في خطبته حديثا عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم, أنه قال: والله لا تقوم الساعة حتى يخرج ثلاثون كذابا آخرهم الأعور الدجال

Abu Muhammad ibn Atiyyah reported that Abdullah ibn Mas’ud read: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but a prophet, who sealed the prophets.” [Al-Muharrir-ul-Wajiz by Ibn Atiyyah Al-Andalusi, Volume 4, Page 388]

عن أبي محمد بن عطية عن محمد بن مسعود أنه قرأ: من رجالكم ولكن نبينا ختم النبيين

Abd-ur-Razzaq, Abd Ibn Humaid, Ibn Al-Mundhir and Ibn Abi Hatim reported that Qatadah said about the verse: “But the Messenger of God and the Seal of the Prophets.” (33:33) Said: “The last of the Prophets.” Abd Ibn Humaid reported that Al-Hasan Al-Basri said about the verse: “And the Seal of the Prophets.” (33:33) Said: “God sealed the prophets through Muhammad (s.) and he was the last one He raised.” Ibn Al-Anbari reported that Abu Abd Ar-Rahman As-Sulami said: “I used to teach Al-Hasan and Al-Husain to read. Thereupon Ali Ibn Abi Talib stopped by my house while I was teaching both of them to read and he said to me: “Teach them to read: And the Seal of the Prophets! With the vowel Fathah on the letter Ta’ (Khatam) and the success is with God.” [Ad-Durr-ul-Manthur of As-Suyuti, vol. 5, p. 204]

وأخرج عبد الرزاق وعبد بن حميد وابن المنذر وابن أبي حاتم عن قتادة رضي الله عنه في قوله ولكن رسول الله وخاتم النبيين قال آخر نبي وأخرج عبد بن حميد عن الحسن في قوله وخاتم النبيين قال ختم الله النبيين بمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وكان آخر من بعث. وأخرج ابن الأنباري في المصاحف عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي قال كنت اقرئ الحسن والحسين فمر بي علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه وانا أقرئهما فقال لي اقرئهما وخاتم النبيين بفتح التاء والله الموفق

Muhammad Ibn Jarir At-Tabari writes: “He is the one, by whom prophethood was sealed and he put a seal on it, so that it will not be opened for anyone until the Last Day.” [Tafsir-ut-Tabari, Vol. 20, p. 279.]

قال محمد بن جرير الطبري: الذي ختم النبوة فطبع عليها فلا تفتح لأحد بعده إلى قيام الساعة

Isma’il Ibn Umar Ibn Kathir writes: “This verse proves, that no one after him is a prophet and if no one after him is a prophet, then by two ways no one after him is a messenger, because the rank of being a messenger is even more special than the rank of being a prophet. Every Messenger is a Prophet, but the opposite is not the case and this has been reported many times and continuously (Mutawatir) from Prophet Muhammad (s.) through the traditions of the Companions.” [Tafsir Ibn Kathir, vol. 6, p. 428]

قال إسماعيل بن عمر بن كثير: فهذه الآية نص في أنه لا نبي بعده وإذا كان لا نبي بعده فلا رسول بعده بطريق الأولى والأخرى; لأن مقام الرسالة أخص من مقام النبوة ، فإن كل رسول نبي ، ولا ينعكس وبذلك وردت الأحاديث المتواترة عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من حديث جماعة من الصحابة

Fakhr-ud-Din Ar-Razi writes: “The prophet, who is a prophet after him, is supplemented ,by the one who comes after him in what he left out in advice and explanations, but the prophet, who has no  prophet after him, is the most caring to his community and gives them guidance and good to the highest degree, because he is like a father to his child who has no one else but him and as for His word: “God knows about all things.” (33:40) Thus, it is meant that it is part of His omniscience that none is prophet after him.” [Mafatih-ul-Ghaib / At-Tafsir-ul-Kabir, vol. 25, p. 186]

قال فخر الدين الرازي: وذلك لأن النبي الذي يكون بعده نبي إن ترك شيئا من النصيحة والبيان يستدركه من يأتي بعده ، وأما من لا نبي بعده يكون أشفق على أمته وأهدى لهم وأجدى إذ هو كوالد لولده الذي ليس له غيره من أحد وقوله وكان الله بكل شيء عليما يعني علمه بكل شيء دخل فيه أن لا نبي بعده

Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Al-Qurtubi writes: “This wording (33:40) is for the scholars of the community of faith, from the early to the late, to take in a completely general way and the text states that none after him (s.) is Prophet.” [Al-Jami’ Li-Ahkami l-Qur’an, vol. 14, p. 178]

قال محمد بن أحمد القرطبي: هذه الألفاظ عنه جماعة علماء الأمة خلفا وسلفا متلقاة على العموم التام مقتضية نصا أنه لا نبي بعده صلى الله عليه وسلم

Jalal-ud-Din As-Suyuti writes: “He has no son, who grows up to be a man and is a prophet after him. In one reading, the letter Ta’ carries the vowel Fathah (Khatam), by which is meant that the prophets were sealed by it and God knows about all things (33:40) and His knowledge includes that none after him is prophet and when the Lord Jesus (a.) comes down, He judges with His legislation.” [Tafsir-ul-Jalalain, page 556]

قال جلال الدين السيوطي: فلا يكون له ابن رجل بعده يكون نبيا وفي قراءة بفتح التاء كآلة الختم أي به ختموا وكان الله بكل شيء عليما منه بأن لا نبي بعده وإذا نزل السيد عيسى يحكم بشريعته

Majd-ud-Din Al-Fairuz Abadi writes: “God sealed through him the previous prophets, therefore there is no one after him who is a prophet.” [Tanwir-ul-Miqba’s Min Tafsir Ibn Abbas, page 354]

قال مجد الدين الفيروز آبادي: ختم الله به النبيين قبله فلا يكون نبي بعده

Shihab-ud-Din Al-Alusi writes: “Because he is the seal of the prophets, it is proven that no male descendant of him lives until he reaches maturity, because if one had reached maturity, he would have become a prophet and he (a.) would not be the seal of the prophets.” [Ruh-ul-Ma’ani, vol. 23, p. 32]

قال شهاب الدين الآلوسي:  لأن كونه عليه الصلاة و السلام خاتم النبيين يدل على أنه لا يعيش له ولد ذكر حت يبلغ لأنه لو بلغ لكان منصبه أن يكون نبيا فلا يكون هو صلى الله تعالى عليه وسلم خاتم النبيين

Mahmud Ibn Umar Az-Zamakhshari writes: “What is meant is, that if he had had a son in his manhood, he would have become a prophet and he would not be the seal of the prophets. When I ask: “How can he be the last of the prophets, when Jesus (a.) comes down in the end of time?” Then I reply: “He is the last of the prophets in the sense that no one will become a prophet after him and Jesus (a.) became a prophet before him. When he comes down, he follows the legislation of Muhammad (s.) and prays in his direction of prayer as if he were one of his community.” [Al-Kashshaf An Haqa’iqi t-Tanzil, Vol. 21, Page 8]

قال محمود بن عمر الزمخشري: يعني أنه لو كان له ولد بالغ مبلغ الرجال لكان نبيا ولم يكن هو خاتم الأنبياء. وقال الزمخشري: فإن قلت: كيف كان آخر الأنبياء وعيسى ينزل في آخر الزمان؟ قلت: معنى كونه آخر الأنبياء أنه لا ينبأ أحد بعده, وعيسى ممن نبئ قبله, وحين ينزل ينزل عاملا على شريعة محمد صلى الله عايه وسلم, مصليا إلى قبلته, كأنه بعض أمته
