Qur’an:

“Say: My servants, who have exceeded the limit towards yourselves, do not give up hope in the mercy of God. God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” [Az-Zumar 39:53]

قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم

Sunnah:

Abu Hamzah reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, God will not excuse anyone who says: ﴾O Lord, surely I did not know that, the children of Fatimah (a.) are the leaders of all the people!﴿ And especially for the followers of the children of Fatimah (a.), God revealed the verse: ﴾My servants, who have exceeded the limit towards yourselves, do not give up hope in the mercy of God. God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.﴿” (39:53) [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 65, Page 14, Hadith 15]

عن محمد بن محمد عن علي بن إبراهيم عن جعفر بن محمد عن عبد الكريم عن محمد بن علي عن محمد بن الفضيل عن أبي حمزة قال: قال أبو جعفر عليه السلام: لا يعذر الله يوم القيامة أحدا يقول يا رب لم أعلم أن ولد فاطمة هم الولاة على الناس كافة، وفي شيعة ولد فاطمة أنزل الله هذه الآية خاصة يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم

Sulaiman reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “God mentioned you in His Scripture when He said: ﴾My servants, who have exceeded the limit towards yourselves, do not give up hope in the mercy of God. God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.﴿ (39:53) By God, He did not mean any other than you.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 65, Page 50, Hadith 93]

الكافي: من الروضة عن العدة، عن سهل، عن محمد بن سليمان، عن أبيه سليمان عن أبي عبد الله الصادق عليه السلام قال: لقد ذكر كم الله في كتابه إذ يقول يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم والله ما أراد بهذا غيركم

At-Thumali reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: “God does not excuse anyone on the Day of Resurrection who says: ﴾O Lord, I did not know, that the children of Fatimah (a.) are the leaders!﴿ And especially because of the children of Fatimah (a.), God revealed the verse: ﴾My servants, who have exceeded the limit towards yourselves, do not give up hope in the mercy of God. God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.﴿” (39:53) [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Vol. 24, page 258 – 259, Hadith 8]

كنز جامع الفوائد وتأويل الآيات الظاهرة: محمد بن العباس عن أحمد بن إدريس عن ابن عيسى عن الأهوازي عن ابن فضال عن محمد بن الفضيل عن الثمالي قال: قال أبو جعفر عليه السلام: لا يعذر الله أحدا يوم القيامة يقول: يا رب لم أعلم أن ولد فاطمة هم الولاة، وفي ولد فاطمة أنزل الله هذه الآية خاصة: يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم

Abu Basir reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said about the verse: ﴾Do not give up hope in the mercy of God. God forgives all sins.﴿ (39:53): “God forgives the sins of you all.” I said: “This is not how we read it.” He said: “O Abu Muhammad, if God forgave all sins, then whom should He be punishing? By God, He meant with His servants none other than us and our followers and it was not revealed except like this: ﴾God forgives the sins of you all.﴿” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, volume 24, page 260, hadith 13]

كنز جامع الفوائد وتأويل الآيات الظاهرة محمد بن علي عن عمرو بن عثمان عن عمران بن سليمان عن أبي بصير عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام في قول الله عز وجل: لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا فقال: إن الله يغفر لكم جميعا الذنوب، قال: فقلت: ليس هكذا نقرأ، فقال: يا با محمد فإذا غفر الذنوب جميعا فلمن يعذب؟ والله ما عنى من عباده غيرنا وغير شيعتنا، وما نزلت إلا هكذا: إن الله يغفر لكم جميعا الذنوب
