Question:

With what were the prophets sent: “And ask those, whom We sent before you from among the messengers! Did We appoint gods besides the Merciful One, (whom) they are worshipping?” [Az-Zukhruf 43:45]

واسأل من أرسلنا من قبلك من رسلنا أجعلنا من دون الرحمن آلهة يعبدون

Al-Jarud Ibn Al-Mundhir Al-Abdi reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “O Jarud, on the night of my ascension (Miraj), God revealed to me: “And ask those, whom We sent before you from among the Messengers! With what were they sent?” (43:45) Therefore I said to them: “With what were you sent?” They (messengers) said: “With your prophethood and the closeness (Wilayah) to Ali Ibn Abi Talib and the Imams from you.” Then He revealed to me that I should turn to the right side of the Throne. Therefore, I turned towards it and saw Ali, Al-Hasan, Al-Husain, Ali the son of Al-Husain, Muhammad the son of Ali, Ja’far the son of Muhammad, Musa the son of Ja’far, Ali the son of Musa, Muhammad the son of Ali, Ali the son of Muhammad, Al-Hasan the son of Ali and Al-Mahdi in a bright light while they were praying. Thereupon the Lord said to me: “These are My proofs and close ones, and this is the one who will take vengeance on My enemies.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 18 page 287]

عن العلامة محمد باقر المجلسي رضي الله عنه عن الشيخ الجليل أبي الفتح الكراجكي رحمه الله عن القاضي أبو الحسن علي بن محمد البغدادي عن أحمد ابن محمد بن أيوب عن محمد بن لاحق بن سابق عن هشام بن محمد السائب الكلبي عن أبيه عن الشرقي بن القطامي عن تميم بن وهلة المري عن الجارود بن المنذر العبدي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم أنه قال: يا جارود ليلة أسري بي إلى السماء أوحى الله عز وجل إلي أن سل من أرسلنا من قبلك من رسلنا على ما بعثوا؟ فقلت: على ما بعثتم؟ فقالوا: على نبوتك، وولاية علي بن أبي طالب، والأئمة منكما، ثم أوحى إلى أن التفت عن يمين العرش، فالتفت فإذا علي، والحسن والحسين، وعلي بن الحسين، ومحمد بن علي، وجعفر بن محمد، وموسى بن جعفر، وعلي بن موسى، ومحمد بن علي، وعلي بن محمد، والحسن بن علي والمهدي في ضحضاح من نور يصلون، فقال لي الرب تعالى: هؤلاء الحجج أوليائي، وهذا المنتقم من أعدائي

Muhammad ibn Al-Fudail reported that Imam Musa Al-Kazim (a.) said: “The closeness (Wilayah) to Ali (a.) is written in all the scriptures of the prophets (a.) and God does not send a messenger without the prophethood of Muhammad (s.) and the authority of Ali (a.).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 page 437 Hadith 6]

محمد، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن ابن محبوب، عن محمد بن الفضيل، عن أبي الحسن عليه السلام قال: ولاية علي عليه السلام مكتوبة في جميع صحف الأنبياء ولن يبعث الله رسولا إلا بنبوة محمد صلى الله عليه وآله ووصية علي عليه السلام

Muhammad ibn Abd Ar-Rahman reported that Imam Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The closeness (Wilayah) to us is the closeness to God and no prophet was ever sent without it.” [Basa’ir-ud-Darajat of As-Saffar, page 95 Hadith 9]

محمد بن يحيى، عن سلمة بن الخطاب، عن علي بن سيف، عن العباس بن عامر، عن أحمد بن رزق الغمشاني، عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: ولايتنا ولاية الله التي لم يبعث نبيا قط إلا بها

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) told him: “During my ascension, an angel appeared to me and said to me: “O Muhammad, ask those, whom We sent before you from among the messengers! حدثنا عباد، عن محمد بن فضيل، عن محمد بن سوقة. قال: وحدثنا أبو سهل سعيد بن محمد، حدثنا علي بن أحمد الكرماني حدثنا أحمد بن عثمان الحافظ، حدثنا عبيد بن كثير، حدثنا محمد بن إسماعيل الأحمسي حدثنا ابن فضيل، عن محمد بن سوقة، عن إبراهيم: عن علقمة والأسود، عن ابن مسعود قال: قال لي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: لما أسري بي إلى السماء إذا ملك قد أتاني فقال لي: يا محمد سل من أرسلنا من قبلك من رسلنا على ما بعثوا. قلت: معاشر الرسل والنبيين على ما بعثكم الله؟ قالوا: على ولايتك يا محمد وولاية علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported that Prophet Muhammad (s) said: “O Abdullah, an angel appeared to me and said: “O Muhammad, ask those, whom We sent before you from among the messengers!
