Question:

Do the followers of Umar report that Imam Al-Husain (a.) described the mother of Ibn Ziyad as an illegitimate woman before his death?

Abu Ma’shar reported from some of his teachers that Al-Husain (a.) said to Umar Ibn Sa’d: “O Umar, choose three options from me: Either you leave me as I came and if you reject that, then take another, or take me to Yazid so that I put my hands in his hand and he judges me with what he means and if you reject that, then take me to the Turks so that I fight them until I die.” After that he sent this to Ibn Ziyad and he was about to take him to Yazid, but a wicked man named Shahr Ibn Hawshab said to him: “God handed over your enemy to you and you take him away? No, unless he submits to your judgment!” Therefore, he sent to him: “No, unless he submits to the judgment of Ibn Ziyad!” Al-Husain (a.) said: “You want me to submit to the judgment of that son of a whore? No, by God, I will not do that.” [Kitab-ul-Mihan of Al-Qairawani, page 133]

قال محمد وذكر محمد بن سحنون حدثني أبي رحمه الله محمد بن أحمد بن تميم قال حدثني عمر بن يوسف ومحمد بن أسامة قالا حدثنا علي بن عبد العزيز البغدادي قال حدثنا أبو عبيد القاسم بن سلام قال حدثنا حجاج عن أبي معشر عن بعض مشيخته قال: قال الحسين رضي الله عنه لعمر بن سعد: يا عمر اختر مني ثلاث خصال إما أن تتركني كما جئت فإن أبيت هذه فأخرى تسيروني إلى يزيد فأضع يدي في يده فيحكم في بما رأى فإن أبيت هذه فسيروني إلى الترك أقاتلهم حتى أموت فأرسل إلى ابن زياد بذلك فهم أن يسيره إلى يزيد فقال له الفاسق شهر بن حوشب: أمكنك الله من عدوك وتسيره لا إلا أن ينزل على حكمك قال: فأرسل إليه لا إلا أن تنزل على حكم ابن زياد فقال الحسين: أنزل على حكم ابن الفاعلة لا والله لا أفعل

Abu Salih reported that Abdullah ibn Abbas said: “Jesus, the son of Mary (a.), met a group of Jews and when they saw him, they said: “The sorcerer and the son of a witch and the fornicator and the son of a whore has come!” So they insulted him and his mother and when Jesus (a.) heard that, he said: “My God, You are my Lord and I came forth from Your Spirit and I was created by You through Your Word!” [Al-Jawab-us-Sahih by Ibn Taymiyyah, Volume 2 Page 20]
