Muhammad ibn Abdi l-Jabbar reported that he asked Imam Al-Askari (a.):“My life be sacrificed to you, O son of the Messenger of God, I want to know who is the Imam and proof of God for His servants after you?” He said: “My son is the Imam and the proof after me. His name and nickname were given to him by Prophet Muhammad (s.). He is the seal of the proofs of God and the last of His successors.” [Ithbat-ul-Hudah of Al-Hurr Al-Amili, Volume 2 page 569]

حدثنا محمد بن عبد الجبار، قال: قلت لسيدي الحسن بن علي: يا ابن رسول الله – جعلني الله فداك – أحب أن أعلم من الإمام وحجة الله على عباده من بعدك؟ قال عليه السلام: إن الإمام والحجة بعدي ابني، سمي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وكنيه، الذي هو خاتم حجج الله وآخر خلفائه

Muhammad ibn Abdi l-Jabbar reported that he asked Imam Al-Askari (a.): “O son of the Messenger of God, may my life be sacrificed to you, I would like to know who is the Imam and proof of God for His servants after you?” He said: “The Imam and the proof after me is my son. Prophet Muhammad (s.) gave him his name and nickname. He is the seal of the successors and proofs of God. No one is allowed to call him by name or his nickname before his appearance.” [Jami’ Ahadith Ash-Shi’ah of Al-Burujirdi, Volume 14 page 566 Hadith 3419]

فضل بن شاذان في كتاب الغيبة قال حدثنا محمد بن عبد الجبار رضي الله عنه قال قلت لسيدي الحسن بن علي عليهما السلام يا ابن رسول الله جعلت فداك أحب ان اعلم من الامام وحجة الله على عباده من بعدك قال إن الامام والحجة بعدي ابني سمى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وكنيه الذي هو خاتم حجج الله وخلفائه إلى أن قال عليه السلام فلا يحل لاحد ان يسميه أو يكنيه باسمه وكنيته قبل خروجه صلوات الله عليه

Tariff reported that Nadr Al-Khadim said: “I came in to Imam (Al-Mahdi) while he was in the cradle. He said: ‘I am the seal of the representatives and through me God frees my people and followers from the sufferings” [As-Sirat-ul-Mustaqim by Ali Ibn Yunus Al-Amili, Volume 2 Page 210 Hadith 3]

طريف عن نضر الخادم أنه دخل على الإمام وهو في المهد فقال: أنا خاتم الأوصياء، وبي يدفع الله البلاء عن أهلي وشيعتي

Dawud ibn Ghassan reported from Isma’il ibn Ali that Imam Al-Askari (a.) said: “I am giving you the good news, O my son, for you are the Commander of Time and the rightly guided (Mahdi). You are the proof of God for His earth and my offspring. You are the one authorized by me and my heir. You are Muhammad, the son of Al-Hasan, the son of Ali, the son of Muhammad, the son of Ali, the son of Musa, the son of Ja’far, the son of Muhammad, the son of Ali, the son of Al-Husain, the son of Ali, the son of Abu Talib (a.). Prophet Muhammad (s.) has placed you in this world and announced the good news about you. You are the seal of the authorized and pure Imams and he bestowed upon you your name and reputation. Therefore, my father made an agreement with me regarding your pure fathers and may God bless the people of the house. He is worthy of praise and glory.” After that, the life of Imam Al-Askari (a.) ended at that point. [Al-Ghaibah of At-Tusi, page 273 Hadith 237]

أحمد بن علي الرازي، عن محمد بن علي، عن عبيد الله بن محمد بن جابان الدهقان، عن أبي سليمان داود بن غسان البحراني قال: قال إسماعيل بن علي: فقال له أبو محمد عليه السلام: إبشر يا بني فأنت صاحب الزمان، وأنت المهدي، وأنت حجة الله على أرضه، وأنت ولدي ووصيي وأنا ولدتك وأنت محمد بن الحسن بن علي بن محمد بن علي بن موسى بن جعفر بن محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام. ولدك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، وأنت خاتم الأوصياء الأئمة الطاهرين، وبشر بك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، وسماك وكناك، بذلك عهد إلي أبي عن آبائك الطاهرين صلى الله على أهل البيت، ربنا إنه حميد مجيد، ومات الحسن بن علي من وقته صلوات الله عليهم أجمعين
