Question:

Someone claimed that the Commander of the Faithful (a.) said, that the cursers themselves were cursed, is this true?

Response:

No, it is not. The source of this claim is a book by Al-Bukhari, who is one of the Imams of our enemies and does not provide any basis for belief. Moreover, the translation is misleading in its form and is not correct.

Muhammad ibn Ubaid Al-Kindi Al-Kufi reported from his father, that Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.) said: ,,The ones who cursed a lot have been cursed.” Marwan said: ,,Those, who curse the people.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani wrote: ,,The chain of tradition is weak (Da’if). This Muhammad is unknown (Majhul).” [Al-Adab-ul-Mufrad of Al-Bukhari, Volume 1 page 163 Hadith 315]

Abu At-Tufail reported, that Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) was asked: ,,Did the Prophet (s.) distinguish you with anything, with which he did not distinguish any of the people?” He said: ,,The Messenger (s.) did not distinguish us with anything, with which he did not distinguish the people, except with what is in the sheath of my sword.” Then he pulled out a leaf on which was written: ,,God curses the one, who slaughtered for someone besides God, God curses the one, who robbed the lighthouse on earth, God curses the one, who cursed his parents and God curses the one, who took an innovator under his wing.” Muhammad Nasir-ud-Din Al-Albani writes: ,,Authentic (Sahih).” [Al-Adab-ul-Mufrad of Al-Bukhari, Volume 1 Page 11 Hadith 17]

Comment:

If the tradition were proof, that those, who curse, were cursed, then the Messenger (s.) would have been cursed, God forbid.
