Jalal-ud-Din Ar-Rumi writes:

كان هناك أحد الوعاظ وكان مفوها جدا في بيانه يـجتمع الرجال والنساء أسفل منبره وذهب جحا وتـحجب وتنقب وتسلل خفية وجلس بين النساء وسأل أحد الـحاضرين الوعاظ هماسا على استحياء هل يكون شعر العانة منقصا لأركان الصلاة؟ وأجاب الوعاظ عندما يطول شعر العانة تكون منه كراهة عند الصلاة فأزله بالنورة أو بالـموسى حتى تتم أركان صلاتك وتكون كاملة طيبة قال السائل إلـى أي حد ترى تكون طولـها بحيث يكون فيه خطر نقص أركان الصلاة؟ قال عندما يكون بقدر حبة شعير في الطوال تكون الإزالة واجبة أيها السئول فقال حجا لجارته انظري أيتها الأخت هل صار شعر عناتي بنفس ذلك الطول؟ ومن أجل رضا الله مدى يديك وتحسسي أترينه قد وصل إلـى حد الكراهة؟ فمدت الـمرأة يدها فـي سروال الرجل فاصطمدت يدها بذكر الرجل فصرخت على الفور صرخة عالية فقال الواعظ: لقد بلغ قولي منها سويداء القلب قالت لا لـم يطرق القلب بل طرق اليد والويل كل الويل إن كان قد طرق القلب يا عظيم العقل

,,There was a preacher, who was very eloquent in his exposition and under whose pulpit the men and women gathered. Nasr-ud-Din Juha went off, covered himself with a veil (hijab), remained on guard, sneaked in secretly and sat down among the women. One of the people present asked the preacher, whispering out of embarrassment: ,,Is the intimate hair a defective base for prayer?” The preacher replied: ,,If the intimate hair became long, it is frowned upon in prayer (Makruh), so remove it with a limestone or a razor blade until the foundations for your prayer are completed and it is made perfect and in order.” The questioner said: ,,In what measure of length do you see a danger from defective base for prayer?” He said: ,,If it is as long as a grain of barley, then the removing becomes obligatory (Wajib), o you curious person!” Thereupon Nasr-ud-Din Juha said to his neighbor: ,,Look here, o sister, whether my intimate hair is exactly this length! Stretch out your hand for the satisfaction of God and feel! Do you see, if it has reached the degree, of being frowned upon (makruh)?” Hereupon the woman put her hand inside the pants of the man. She grabbed the private part of the man and instantly shouted loudly, whereupon the preacher said: ,,My speech has penetrated the depths of her heart.” She said: ,,No, it is not the heart that has hit something. but the hand, o woe if the heart had hit it, o great mind!” [Al-Mathnawi, Volume 5, page 345 – 346]
