Question:

What is the judgment on those who think that you can see God with your eyes?

Answer:

Hisham reported, that Imam Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,Prophet Muhammad (s.) never saw his Lord with the sight of the eye. He who means seeing with the heart, is correct and he who means seeing with the eye, has disbelieved (kafir) in God and His signs, because the Messenger (s.) said: ,,He who compares God with His creation, has disbelieved. Whoever compares Him with His creation, has associated with Him a partner.” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Hurr Al-Amili, Volume 28 Page 348 Hadith 30]

وعنه، عن التلعكبري، عن محمد بن الحسن، عن الصفار، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام، عن الصادق عليه السلام في حديث قال: إن محمدا صلى الله عليه وآله لم ير الرب على مشاهدة العيان، فمن عنا بالرؤية رؤية القلب فهو مصيب، ومن عنا بها رؤية البصر فهو كافر بالله وبآياته، لقول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله من شبه الله بخلقه فقد كفر إلى أن قال: ومن شبهه بخلقه فقد اتخذ معه شريكا
