Muhammad Ibn Hasan At-Tusi writes:

فَـأَمَّـا الْـمَـرْأَةُ الْـحُـرَّةُ فَـإِنَّـهُ يَـجِـبُ عَـلَـيْـهَـا سَـتْـرُ رَأْسِـهَـا وَبَـدَنِـهَـا مِـنْ قَـرْنِـهَـا إِلَـى قَـدَمِـهَـا‏ وَلَا يَـجِـبُ عَـلَـيْـهَـا سَـتْـرُ الْـوَجْـهِ وَالْـكَـفَّــيْـنِ وَظُـهُـورِ الْـقَـدَمَـيْـنِ وَإِنْ سَـتَـرَتْـهُ كَـانَ أَفْـضَـلَ

,,Now as for the free woman, she must cover her head and body from the top of her head to the top of her foot and she does not have to cover the face, the hands and the top of the feet and if she covers it, it is more excellent.” [Al-Mabsut, Volume 1, page 87]
