Al-Fadl ibn Shadan said: I heard ar-Rida (as.) say:,,When the head of al-Husain ibn Ali (as.) was delivered to the Levant, Yazid (l.) ordered that it be laid down and a table be set up for it. He (l.) and his companions ate and drank beer. When they had finished, he ordered that his head be placed in a bowl in front of his couch and that the chessboard be spread over the bowl. Yazid (l.) sat down and started playing chess while mentioning al-Husain (as.), his father (as.) and his grandfather (s.) and mocking them. Whenever he won the game, his companion handed him over the beer and he drank it three times. Then he poured the small remaining beer on the ground, right next to the bowl. So whoever is one of our followers (Shi’a), let him abstain from drinking beer and playing chess and whoever turned his gaze on either of these, let him remember al-Husain (as.) while cursing Yazid (l.) and the family of Yazid (l.). God (swt.) thereby wipes out his sins even if they were in the number of stars.” [ʿUyūn Akhbār ar-Riḍā, volume 1, page 25, hadith 50]

حدثنا الواحد بن محمد بن عبدوس النيسابوري العطار رضى عنه قال حدثنا علي بن محمد بن قتيبة عن الفضل شاذان قال سمعت الرضا عليه السلام يقول لما حمل رأس الحسين بن علي عليه السلام إلى الشام أمر يزيد لعنه فوضع ونصبت عليه مائدة فاقبل هو لعنه الله وأصحابه يأكلون ويشربون الفقاع فلما فرغوا أمر بالرأس فوضع طست تحت سريره وبسط عليه رقعه الشطرنج وجلس يزيد عليه اللعنة يلعب بالشطرنج ويذكر الحسين وأباه وجده (ص) ويستهزئ بذكرهم فمتى قمر صاحبه تناول الفقاع فشربه ثلث مرات ثم صب فضلته ما يلي الطست من الأرض فمن كان من شيعتنا فليتورع شرب الفقاع واللعب بالشطرنج ومن نظر إلى الفقاع إلى الشطرنج فليذكر الحسين عليه السلام وليلعن يزيد وآل زياد يمحو الله عز وجل بذلك ذنوبه ولو كانت بعدد النجوم

Sulaiman Al-Minqari reported that Hafs Ibn Ghayyath said: ,,I asked Abu Abdillah (As-Sadiq) about the one who abstains from among the people. Then he said: ﴾He who abstains from that which is forbidden by God.﴿” [Al-Bihar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 67, Page 299, Hadith 8].
