Al-Mirza Husain Al-Nuri writes:

باب أنه يجوز لغير الهاشمي تزويج الهاشمية، والأعجمي العربية، والعربي القرشية، والقرشي الهاشمية وغير ذلك

Chapter: It is permissible for a non-Hashemite to marry a Hashemite and for a non-Arab to marry an Arab and for an Arab to a Quraishite and for a Quraishite to a Hashemite and other than that

١٦٤٥٤ / ١ – دعائم الاسلام: عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي (عليهما السلام)، أنه قال: خطب رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) يوم فتح مكة، فحمد الله وأثني عليه، ثم قال: أيها الناس، إن الله قد أذهب عنكم نخوة الجاهلية وتفاخرها بابائها، الا إنكم من ولد آدم وآدم من طين، الا إن خير عباد الله عند الله أتقاهم، ان العربية ليست بأب والد ولكنها لسان ناطق، فمن قصر به عمله لم يبلغه حسبه، ألا إن كل دم في الجاهلية أو إحنة فهو تحت قدمي إلى يوم القيامة

16454/1 – Da’a’im ul Islam: from Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali (Al-Baqir) that he said: ,,The Messenger of God (s.) delivered a sermon on the day of conquest of Mecca, so he praised God then said: ,,O people, God has removed from you arrogance of the [days of] ignorance and pride by your fathers, indeed you are from the children of Adam and Adam is from clay, indeed the best slaves of God near God are the most pious of you, Arabic is not by father and father but it is a speaking tongue (language), so whoever shortens in deeds, his lineage does not reach (benefit) him, indeed every blood [shed] during the [days of] ignorance or hate/grudge so it is under my foot until the Day of Resurrection.”

١٦٤٥٥ / ٢ – وعن جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، أنه قال: زوج رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) المقداد بن الأسود ضباعة بنت الزبير بن عبد المطلب، ثم قال (صلى الله عليه وآله) إنما زوجتها المقداد ليتواضع في النكاح، ولتتأسوا برسول (الله صلى الله عليه وآله) ولتعلموا أن أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم. وكان الزبير أخا عبد الله أبي النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) لأبيه وأمه

16455/2 – And from Ja’far ibn Muhammad (As-Sadiq) that he said:,,The Messenger of God (s.) got Al-Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad married to Daba’ah bint Az-Zubair ibn Abdul Muttalib, then he (s.) said: ,,I only got her married to Al-Miqdad for modesty/humility in marriage and for [people] to follow the Messenger (s.) and to let you know that the most honorable of you near God is the most pious of you.” And Az-Zubair was the brother of Abdullah, the father of the Prophet (s.), for (from) his father and his mother.”

١٦٤٥٦ / ٣ – وعنه (عليه السلام): أن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) زوج الموالي القرشيات، ليتضع المناكح وليتأسوا فيها جميعا برسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، زوج رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) ضباعة بنت الزبير عبد المطلب المقداد، وزوج تميم الداري امرأة من بني هاشم بن عبد مناف

16456/3 – And from him (a.): ,,The Messenger of God (s.) married the slaves to Quraishites, for modesty/humility of (in) marriage and for [people] to follow the Messenger of God (s.) in it altogether, he married Daba’ah bint Az-Zubair ibn Abdul Muttalib to Al-Miqdad, and he married Tamim Ad-Daari to a women from the clan of Hashim ibn Abd Manaf.”

١٦٤٥٧ / ٤ – ابن شهرآشوب في المناقب: قال بعض الخوارج لهشام بن الحكم: العجم تتزوج في العرب، قال: نعم، قال: فالعرب تتزوج في قريش، قال: نعم، قال: فقريش تتزوج في بني هاشم، قال: نعم، فجاء الخارجي إلى الصادق (عليه السلام) فقص عليه، ثم قال: أسمعه منك؟ فقال: نعم قد قلت ذاك، قال الخارجي: فها أنا إذا قد جئتك خاطبا، فقال له أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): انك لكفء في دينك، وحسبك في قومك، ولكن الله عز وجل صاننا عن الصدقات وهي وأوساخ أيدي النس فنكره أن نشرك فيما فضلنا الله به من لم يجعل الله له مثل ما جعل لنا. فقام الخارجي وهو يقول: بالله ما رأيت رجلا مثله، ردني والله أقبح رد، وما خرج من قول صاحبه

16457/4 – Ibn Shahr Ashub in Al-Manaqib: ,,Some of the Kharijites said to Hisham ibn Al-Hakam: ,,The non-Arab’s marriage in the Arab”, he said: ,,Yes”, they said: ,,So the Arab’s marriage in Quraish”, he said: ,,Yes”, they said: ,,So Quraish’s marriage in the clan of Hashim”, he said: ,,Yes”, so the Kharijite went to As-Sadiq (a.) and narrated [this dialogue] to him then said: ,,Did he hear it from you?” so he said: ,,Yes, I have said that.” The Kharijite said: ,,So here I am, so I have come to you with a marriage proposal” so As-Sadiq (a.) said to him: ,,You are a match in your religion, and your lineage in your people, but Allah, High and Exalted, has saved us from charities and it is dirt from the hands of people so we dislike to associate in what Allah has preferred us with to whom Allah has not brought for him like what he has brought for us.” so the Kharijite stood up and he was saying: ,,By Allah, I did not see a man like him, he refused me, by Allah, with the ugliest of refusals and he did not exit (contradict) from his companion’s statement.”

١٦٤٥٨ / ٥ – الكشي في رجاله: عن طاهر بن عيسى قال: حدثني أبو سعيد، (قال: حدثني) الشجاعي، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن خزيمة بن ربيعة يرفعه قال: خطب سلمان (رضي الله عنه) إلى عمر فرده، ثم ندم فعاد إليه، فقال: إنما أردت أن أعلم ذهبت حمية الجاهلية، أم هي كما هي

16458/5 – Al-Kishi in his rijal: From Tahir ibn Eesa who said: Abu Saeed reported to me who said: Ash-Shujaa’i reported to me, from Yaqub ibn Yazid, from Ibn Abi Umair, from Khuzaimah ibn Rabee’ah who raised it, said: ,,Salman addressed Umar so he (Umar) repelled him then he regretted. Then he (Salman) returned to him and said: ,,I only desired to know whether the fanaticism of the [days of] ignorance has gone from you or it is just as it is.”

١٦٤٥٩ / ٦ – وعن أبي صالح خلف بن حماد الكشي قال: حدثني الحسن بن طلحة المروزي، يرفعه عن حماد بن عيسى، عن إبراهيم بن عمرو اليماني، عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام)، قال: تزوج سلمان امرأة من بني كندة فدخل بها

16459/6 – And from Abu Saleh Khalaf ibn Hamad al-Kashi who said: Al-Hasan ibn Talhah Al-Maruzi reported to me, who raised it to Hamad ibn Eesa, from Ibrahim ibn Amro Al-Yamani, from Abu Abdillah (As-Sadiq) who said: ,,Salman married a woman from the clan of Kindah then entered upon her (had carnal relations).”

١٦٤٦٠ / ٧ – أبو القاسم الكوفي في كتاب الاستغاثة: عن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، أنه زوج ابنة عمه ضباعة بنت الزبير بن عبد المطلب من المقداد، وكان المقداد من موالي كندة، وقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): أتعلمون لم زوجت المقداد من ضباعة ابنة عمي؟ قالوا: لا، قال: ليتسع النكاح فيناله كل منكم، وليتعلموا أن أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم

16460/7 – Abul-Qasim al-Kufi in the book ‘Al-Istighathah’: ,,From the Messenger of God (s.), that he married the daughter of his uncle, Daba’ah bint Az-Zubair ibn Abdul Muttalib to Al-Miqdad, and Al-Miqdad was from the slaves of Kindah, and he (s.) said: “Do you know why I married Al-Miqdad to Daba’ah the daughter of my uncle?” They said: ,,No”, he said: ,,For accommodating marriage so everyone from you gets it, and for letting you know that the most honorable of you near Allah is the most pious of you.”

١٦٤٦١ / ٨ – وقيل لأمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام): أيجوز تزويج الموالي من العربيات؟ فقال: أتتكافأ دماؤكم، ولا تتكافأ فروجكم!؟

16461/8 – And it was said to the Commander of the Faithful (a.): ,,Is it permissible for slaves to marry from the Arabs?” so he said: ,,You are a match in your bloods, and not a match in your private parts?” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il of An-Nuri, Volume 14 Pages 183 – 186]
