Question:

Did the people of the House (a.) order us to insult Abu Bakr and Umar, through whom the blood of the Muslims will be shed until the Last Day?

Taqi ibn Najm reported, that Ward ibn Zaid, the brother of Al-Kumait, said: ,,We asked Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) about Abu Bakr and Umar and he said: ,,Whoever knows that God is a just judge, he must disassociate from the two, for not a drop of blood has been shed, except that the two have it on their necks.” [Taqrib-ul-Ma’arif of Al-Halabi, page 247]

عن تقي بن نجم عن ورد بن زيد أخي الكميت قال: سألنا محمد بن علي عليهما السلام عن أبي بكر وعمر فقال: من كان يعلم أن الله حكم عدل برئ منهما وما من محجمة دم تهراق إلا وهي في رقابهما

Dawud Ibn An-Nu’man reported, that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: ,,God loves the meaningful matters and He detests the unimportant ones.” Al-Kumait said: ,,O my Lord, I would like to ask you about a matter.” He took a seat and pulled a pillow to his chest. Then he said: ,,Ask me your question!” Al-Kumait said: ,,I am asking you about the two men (Abu Bakr and Umar).” He said: ,,O Kumait ibn Zaid, in the time of Islam, not a drop of blood has been shed and not an unlawful possession has been acquired and not a forbidden shame has been consorted with, except that the two of them have it on their necks until the Last Day and until the appearance of our Exalting One (Qa’im). We, the sons of Hashem, command our elderly and the young to insult the two and to disassociate from them.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 47 page 323 Hadith 17]

رجال الكشي: نصر بن صباح، عن إسحاق بن محمد البصري، عن محمد بن جمهور العمي، عن موسى بن بشار الوشاء، عن داود بن النعمان قال: دخلت الكميت فأنشده وذكر نحوه ثم قال (الإمام الباقر عليه السلام) في آخره: إن الله عز وجل يحب معالي الأمور، ويكره سفسافها فقال الكميت يا سيدي أسألك عن مسألة، وكان متكئا فاستوى جالسا وكسر في صدره وسادة، ثم قال: سل فقال: أسألك عن الرجلين (أبي بكر وعمر) فقال: يا كميت ابن زيد ما أهريق في الاسلام محجمة من دم ولا اكتسب مال من غير حله ولا نكح فرج حرام إلا وذلك في أعناقهما إلى يوم القيامة، حتى يقوم قائمنا (المهدي) ونحن معاشر بني هاشم نأمر كبارنا وصغارنا بسبهما والبراءة منهما

Taqi Ibn Najm reported that Bashir said: ,,I asked Abu Ja’far Al-Baqir (a.) about Abu Bakr and Umar, but he did not answer me. After that, I asked him again, but he did not answer me. When it was the third time, I said: ,,My life is sacrificed to you, tell me about them!” He said: ,,Not a drop of our blood and none of the blood of any of the Muslims was shed, except that the two of them have it on their necks until the Last Day.” [Taqrib-ul-Ma’arif of Al-Halabi, page 245]

عن تقي بن نجم عن بشير قال: سألت أبا جعفر عليه‌ السلام عن أبي بكر وعمر فلم يجبني ثم سألته فلم يجبني فلما كان من الثالثة قلت: جعلت فداك أخبرني عنهما فقال: ما قطرت قطرة دم من دمائنا ولا من دماء أحد من المسلمين إلاّ وهي في أعناقهما إلى يوم القيامة
