Reaching the prophetic rank through temporary marriage?

Question:

According to Al-Kafi, does one reach the level and position of the Prophet (s.) if one marries temporary, or is it a lie?

Answer:

According to narrations, the people of the house (a.) are the best creatures and their position and level is unattainable. Neither in Al-Kafi nor in any other book is there such a statement. The enemies have probably made use of this tradition, which they prefer to falsify:

Fathullah Ibn Shukrillah reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “He who marries for a limited time once, his level is like the level of Al-Husain (a.) and he who marries twice, his level is like the level of Al-Hasan (a.) and he who marries three times, his level is like the level of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) and he who marries four times, his level is like my level.” [Minhaj-us-Sadiqin of Al-Kashani, Volume 2, page 493]

عن فتح الله بن شكر الله عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: من تمتع مرة كان درجته كدرجة الحسين عليه السلام ومن تمتع مرتين فدرجته كدرجة الحسن عليه السلام ومن تمتع ثلاث مرات كان درجته كدرجة علي بن أبي طالب عليهما السلام ومن تمتع أربع مرات فدرجته كدرجتي

Ali Ibn Ja’far reported that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: “The Prophet Muhammad (s.) took the hand of Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (a.) and said:”Whoever loves these two boys and their father (Ali) and mother (Fatimah) is with me on my level on the Judgment Day.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, vol. 43 page 271 Hadith 37]

The followers of Umar mention similar things.

Al-Husain (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “The Prophet Muhammad (s.) took the hand of Al-Hasan (a.) and Al-Husain (a.) and said: “Whoever loves me and these two and their father (Ali) and mother (Fatimah) is with me on my level on Judgment Day.” Abu Isa At-Tirmidhi writes: “This tradition is good (Hasan) and unfamiliar. We know it among the traditions of Ja’far Ibn Muhammad no different than in this form.” [Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadith 3733]

حدثنا نصر بن علي الجهضمي حدثنا علي بن جعفر بن محمد بن علي أخبرني أخي موسى بن جعفر بن محمد عن أبيه جعفر بن محمد عن أبيه محمد بن علي عن أبيه علي بن الحسين عن أبيه عن جده علي بن أبي طالب أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أخذ بيد حسن وحسين فقال من أحبني وأحب هذين وأباهما وأمهما كان معي في درجتي يوم القيامة قال أبو عيسى الترمذي: هذا حديث حسن غريب لا نعرفه من حديث جعفر بن محمد إلا من هذا الوجه

Abu Rabi’ Ibn Sabrah reported that Sabrah Ibn Ma’bad said: “The Prophet Muhammad (s.) ordered his companions, in the year of the conquest of Mecca, to marry the women for a limited period.” [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1406]

وحدثنا يحيى بن يحيى أخبرنا عبد العزيز بن الربيع بن سبرة بن معبد قال سمعت أبي ربيع بن سبرة يحدث عن أبيه سبرة بن معبد أن نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عام فتح مكة أمر أصحابه بالتمتع من النساء

Jalal-ud-Din As-Suyuti writes: “Some companions of the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “How do we see you in Paradise, where you are at the highest of levels and we are inferior to you? Then came the revelation: “And he who obeys God and the Messenger”. (4:69) By what he commanded him: “These are with those to whom God has bestowed grace among the prophets and the truthful. The best companions of the prophets because of their conduct in truthfulness and affirmation: “And martyrs. Who are killed in the way of God: “And the righteous.” Others than those mentioned: “What good companions are they!” Companions of Paradise, for in them they enjoy their vision and visitation and the company of them, even though their place is in the highest stages compared to others.”[Tafsir Al-Jalalain, Volume 1, page 112]

قال جلال الدين السيوطي: قال بعض الصحابة للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كيف نراك في الجنة وأنت في الدرجات العلى ونحن أسفل منك؟ فنزل ومن يطع الله والرسول فيما أمر به فأولئك مع الذين أنعم الله عليهم من النبيين والصديقين أفاضل أصحاب الأنبياء لمبالغتهم في الصدق والتصديق والشهداء القتلى في سبيل الله والصالحين غير من ذكر وحسن أولئك رفيقا رفقاء في الجنة بأن يستمتع فيها برؤيتهم وزيارتهم والحضور معهم وإن كان مقرهم في الدرجات العالية بالنسبة إلى غيرهم
