Question:
How did the Prophet behave when he saw a woman he liked?
Answer:

Hammad Ibn Uthman reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “The Messenger (s.) saw a woman he liked, after which he came in to Umm Salamah, whose day it was and had intercourse with her. Then he came out to the people, while drops of water fell from his head and said: “O people, the gazing is only from satan, so if anyone finds himself in this shall have intercourse with his own wife.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, volume 5 page 298 – 299 Hadith 1]

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “If one of you looked at a beautiful woman, let him have sexual intercourse with his own (wife), because what is with her is like what is with that other woman.” Then a man stood up and said: “O Messenger of God, what is one to do if one has none of his own?” He said: “Then one shall lift up his gaze to heaven and gaze towards him and ask him for a favor.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Vol. 5 Hadith 2]

Muhammad Ibn Ali reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “If any of you gazed upon a woman he liked, let him have intercourse with his own (wife), for what is with her is like what he has witnessed, so let him not give Satan access to his heart and take his gaze away from her, and if he has no wife, pray two rak’ah and praise God often, and bless the Prophet (s.). Then he asks God for His grace, for He brings forth for him by His grace that which enriches him.” [Al-Wasa’il by Al-Amili, Volume 20 Pages 105 – 106 Hadith 3]
Muhammad Ibn Al-Husain reported that Imam Ali (a.) sat between his companions: “When a beautiful woman passed them, the people stared at them with their eyes, whereupon the commander of the faithful (a.) said: “The eyes of these men are greedy and this is the reason for their fractiousness. So if any of you looked at a woman he liked, let him have intercourse with his own, because she is only a woman like any other woman. A man of those who exited (Khawarij) said: ” May God fight him (imam Ali) down as an disbeliever, what an understanding person (Faqih) he is!” So the people (companions) jumped up to kill him, and the commander of the believers (a.) said: “Always take it easy, there is only one blasphemy for one blasphemy or one forgiveness for one blame.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, vol. 20 page 106 Hadith 4]
