Question:

Does As-Saduq confirm the murder and poisoning of the infallible (a.)?

Answer:

Abu Ja’far As-Saduq writes: “We believe about the Prophet Muhammad (s.) that poison was given to him during the campaign of Khaibar. The effect of this food continued until his artery was severed and he died of it. The commander of the believers (a.) was murdered by Abd-ur-Rahman Ibn Muljam, God curse him, and buried in Ghari, Al-Hasan Ibn Ali (a.) was poisoned by his wife Ja’dah Bint Al-Ash’ath Al-Kindi and died of it, Al-Husain Ibn Ali (a.) was killed in Kerbela and his murderer is Sinan Ibn Anas, God curse him, Imam Zain-ul-Abidin, Ali Ibn Husain (a.), was poisoned and murdered by Al-Walid Ibn Abd Al-Malik, Imam Al-Baqir, Muhammad Ibn Ali (a.), was poisoned and murdered by Ibrahim Ibn Walid, Imam As-Sadiq, Ja’far Ibn Muhammad (a.), was poisoned and murdered by Al-Mansur, Imam Al-Kazim, Musa Ibn Ja’far (a.), was poisoned and murdered by Harun Ar-Rashid, Imam Ar-Rida, Ali Ibn Musa (a.), was murdered by Al-Ma’mun through poison, Imam Al-Jawad, Muhammad Ibn Ali (a.), was murdered by Al-Mu’tasim by poison, Imam Al-Hadi, Ali Ibn Muhammad (a.), was murdered by Al-Mu’tadid by poison and Imam Al-Askari, Al-Hasan Ibn Ali (a.), was murdered by Al-Mu’tamid by poison. We believe that this happened to them according to the truth and did not appear to man a similar form as the one who crosses the line (ghalis) states. Rather, they testified to their murder according to the truth and correctness, neither on the basis of estimation and imagination, nor on the basis of doubt and uncertainty. So anyone who claims to have replaced them by a similar figure or by one of them does not belong to our faith at all and we renounce him. The Prophet (s.) and the Imams (a.) already reported that they will be murdered and whoever claims that they were not murdered has made liars of them and whoever makes liars of them has made a liar of God and disbelieved Him and leaves Islam and whoever desires anything other than Islam as faith (3:85) will never be accepted by him and in the Hereafter he will belong to the losers.” [Al-I’tiqadat Fi Din Al-Imamiyyah, pp. 97-99]
