Question:

Some opponents claim that the people of the house (a.) have forbidden the marriage with the Kurds and called them demons.

Answer:

The “Jinn” are those who hide, not demons.

Abu Basir reported that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) was asked by Tawus Al-Yamani: “Why were those who are hidden named as the hidden (jinn)?” He said: “Because they hid (istajann) so that they would not be seen.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 46 page 352]

Abu Ar-Rabi’ Ash-Shami reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): “There is a group of Kurds with us and they are always carrying goods for sale. Should we get involved with them and start selling?” He said: “O Abu Ar-Rabi’, do not get involved with them, for those Kurds are the living of those who hide themselves (Jinn). Allah removed the veil from them, so do not get involved with them.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 Page 158 Hadith 2]

Abu Ar-Rabi’ Ash-Shami reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Do not marry any of those Kurds, because they are one of the gender of those who hide (jinn), of whom the veil was uncovered.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 Page 352 Hadith 2]

Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: The second tradition is interrupted (Mursal) and proves there is a scorn (Makruh) concerning the relationship with those Kurds and the interpretation of their being from the hidden ones (Jinn) may be that their bad morals and abundance of strength resembled the hidden ones (jinns) in the way as if the veil was uncovered from them.” [Mir’at-ul-Uqul Fi Sharh Akhbar Al Ar-Rasul, Volume 19 page 145]

Comment:

It speaks of an uncovered group of Kurds who are living in hiding (Jinn) and not of a race, as it is expressed in the books of our enemies by Umar Ibn Al-Khattab [Read here!]
