If one looks at the passages of the Qur’an that deal with the Imams (a.), it is noticeable that they stand between verses and texts that deal with a different subject. In the following article, some of these passages have been isolated from the text to make this clear:

[ 1. ] And if there is any dispute with you about this after the knowledge that has come to you, say: “Come, let us gather together our sons and your sons, our wives and your wives, our souls and your souls, and then take the oath of allegiance and let the curse of Allah descend upon the liars.”

“With Jesus in the sight of God is the same as with Adam. He created him from earth, then He said to him: “Be!” and he was. It is the truth from your Lord. Therefore do not be one of the doubters. [ … ] This is certainly the true report. And there is no god but God. God is the mighty, the wise. When they turn away, God knows of the wicked.” [Al Imran 3:59-63]

[ 2. ] O you who believe! obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and those who are in authority among you.

“God commands you to return entrusted goods to their owners and, if you judge among men, to judge by justice. How excellent is that which God admonishes you with! God sees and hears everything. [ … ] If you quarrel about something, bring it before God and the messenger, if you believe in God and the Last Day. This is better and leads to a more beautiful result.” [An-Nisa’ 4:58-59]

[ 3. ] “Today the disbelievers despair of your faith, so do not fear them, but fear Me. Today i have perfected your doctrine of faith and perfected My grace on you, and I am pleased that Islam is your confession.”

“It is forbidden for you to eat any dead thing, blood, pork, or that which has been called on besides Allah, or that which has been choked or slain, or fallen down or been pushed, or that which has been eaten by a wild beast, except that which you kill and that which has been slaughtered on sacrificial stones; and it is also forbidden to cast lots with arrows. This is sacrilege [ … ] But if a man is forced by hunger without any inclination towards sin, God is full of forgiveness and merciful.” [Al-Ma’idah 5:3]

[ 4. ] “God will only keep away the blemish from you, O people of the house, and keep you perfectly clean.”

“O wives of the Prophet, you are not like any of the women If you fear Allah, be not submissive in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease should be hopeful. And speak fair words. Stay in your homes. And do not display your ornaments as in the days of former ignorance. Keep up prayer and pay the tax and obey Allah and His Messenger. [ … ] And remember that which is recited in your houses by the signs of Allah and by wisdom. God is good and has knowledge of all things.” [Al-Ahzab 33:32-34]

[ 5. ] Say: “I ask no reward from you except the love of your kinsmen.”

“Then you see those who do wrong, frightened by what they have acquired, and it will come upon them. But those who believe and work righteousness are in the Gardens of Allah. They have with their Lord what they wish. That is the great favor. This is the good news which Allah proclaims to His servants who believe and do good deeds. [ … ] And whoever does a good work, We give him in return for it more good. God is full of forgiveness and shows his gratitude.” [Ash-Shura 42:22-23]
