Abdullah Ibn Ja’far claimed to be the rightful Imam

Ibn Abi Najran reported that Safwan Al-Jammal said: “Mansur said to Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.): “My father and mother be sacrificed to you, the souls linger in the morning and evening and go there. So who will be the one when that happens?” He said: “If that happens, then this one is your master.” Whereupon he tapped with his hand on the – as far as i know – right shoulder of Musa Al-Kazim (a.), who was five years old that day and Abdullah, the son of Ja’far (a.), was sitting with us.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 309 Hadith 6]

علي بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه، عن ابن أبي نجران، عن صفوان الجمال، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال قال له منصور بن حازم بأبي أنت وأمي إن الأنفس يغدا عليها ويراح فإذا كان ذلك فمن؟ فقال أبو عبد الله (الصادق) عليه السلام إذا كان ذلك فهو صاحبكم وضرب بيده على منكب أبي الحسن (الكاظم) عليه السلام الأيمن في ما أعلم وهو يومئذ خماسي وعبد الله بن جعفر جالس معنا

Fudail Ibn Yasar reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Whoever claims the leadership (Imamah) although he is not one of its possessors is an disbeliever (kafir).” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1 Page 372 Hadith 2]

محمد بن يحيى، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عيسى، عن علي بن الحكم، عن أبان عن الفضيل، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: من ادعى الإمامة وليس من أهلها فهو كافر

Muhammad Ibn Hasan reported that Jafar As-Sadiq (a.) said to Musa Al-Kazim (a.): “O my son, your brother (Abdullah) will take my place and claim the leadership (Imamah) after me. Do not raise a fight with him with a word. He will be the first of my kin to pass away after me.” [Ikhtiyar Ma’rifati r-Rijal of At-Tusi, Volume 2 Page 525]

عن محمد بن الحسن عن أبي عبد الله الصادق عليه السلام أنه قال لموسى عليه البسلام: يا بني ان أخاك (عبد الله) سيجلس مجلسي ويدعي الإمامة بعدي، فلا تنازعه بكلمة فإنه أول أهلي لحوقا بي

Muhammad Ibn Ali reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said about his son Abdullah: “He believes in nothing you believe in and God and i are distancing (Bara’ah) ourselves from him.” [Al-I’tiqadat of As-Saduq, page 113]

عن محمد بن علي عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام أنه قال في ابنه عبد الله: إنه ليس على شئ مما أنتم عليه وإني أبرأ منه برئ الله منه

Hisham Ibn Salim reported that he said to Imam Al-Kazim (a.): “My life be sacrificed to you, your brother Abdullah claims that he is the Imam after his father.” He said: “Abdullah does not want God to be worshipped.” I said: “My life be sacrificed to you, who do we have besides him?” He said: “If God wants to guide you, He will give you guidance.” I said: “My life is sacrificed unto you, is it you?” He said: ” i will not say it.” I thought to myself: “I have not found the path to the matter.” Then i said: “My life be sacrificed to you, have you joined an imam?” He said: “No.” Out of his appreciation and gift, something came over me that nobody knew but God. Then i said: “My life be sacrificed to you, do i question you as i questioned your father?” He said: “Ask your questions and you will be informed, but do not make it public, because if you make it public, they will cause a slaughter.” I questioned him, and he was a sea that could not be exploited.” I said: “My life be sacrificed to you, your fathers followers have gone astray. Shall i meet them and invite them to you? I give you my word that i shall not speak.” He said: “If you perceive any of them to be in a right way, meet him and let him give you his word to be silent, for if he makes it public, they will make a slaughter. While pointing his hand at his throat.” [Al-Irshad of Al-Mufid, Volume 2 Page 222 – 223]

أخبرني أبو القاسم جعفر بن محمد بن قولويه، عن محمد بن يعقوب الكليني، عن محمد بن يحيى، عن أحمد بن عيسى، عن أبي يحيى الواسطي، عن هشام بن سالم عن أبي الحسن الكاظم عليه السلام قال: قلت جعلت فداك إن عبد الله أخاك يزعم أنه الإمام بعد أبيه، فقال: عبد الله يريد ألا يعبد الله قلت: جعلت فداك، فمن لنا بعده؟ فقال: إن شاء الله أن يهديك هداك قال: قلت: جعلت فداك، فأنت هو؟ قال: لا أقول ذلك قال فقلت: في نفسي: لم أصب طريق المسألة، ثم قلت له: جعلت فداك، عليك إمام؟ قال: لا قال: فدخلني شئ لا يعلمه إلا الله إعظاما له وهيبة، ثم قلت: جعلت فداك، أسألك كما كنت أسأل أباك؟ قال: سل تخبر ولا تذع، فإن أذعت فهو الذبح قال: فسألته فإذا هو بحر لا ينزف، قلت: جعلت فداك، شيعة أبيك ضلال، فألقي إليهم هذا الأمر وأدعوهم إليك؟ فقد أخذت علي الكتمان، قال: من آنست منهم رشدا فألق إليه وخذ عليه بالكتمان، فإن أذاع فهو الذبح وأشار بيده إلى حلقه
