Answer:
Aban Ibn Taghlib reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Abu Bakr caused silence on the pulpit until no answer came back. Then he said: “I have taken leadership over you and i am not the best of you. Reject me, reject me.” [Al-Ihtijaj of Abu Mansur At-Tabarsi, Volume 1 Page 104]
عن أحمد بن علي عن أبان بن تغلب عن الصادق عليه السلام قال: فأفحم أبو بكر على المنبر حتى لم يحر جوابا، ثم قال: وليتكم ولست بخيركم أقيلوني أقيلوني
Similar things are found in the works of his followers.
Evidence:
Anas Ibn Malik reported that Abu Bakr said: “Be that as it may, O people, i have already taken your lead and i am not the best of you. If i do something good, keep an eye on me, and if i do something bad, defy me.” Isma’il Ibn Umar Ibn Kathir writes: “This chain of transmission is authentic (Sahih).” [Al-Bidayah Wa An-Nihayah, Volume 5 Page 269]
عن محمد بن إسماعيل عن إبراهيم بن موسى عن هشام عن معمر عن الزهري عن أنس بن مالك عن أبي بكر أنه قال: أما بعد أيها الناس فإني قد وليت عليكم ولست بخيركم، فإن أحسنت فأعينوني، وإن أسأت فقوموني. قال إسماعيل بن عمر بن كثير: وهذا إسناد صحيح
