Al-Mufid refutes the lie that no Shiite believes in the falsification of the Qur’an

Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-Mufid writes:

“As for the addition to it, in one way it is not possible with certainty, while in another way it may be true. As for the way of which I am certain that it is not possible, consists in that one of the people should add to it a whole chapter to the extent that not one of the linguists would realize it.”
“As for the way in which it is possible, it consists in adding a word or two words or a letter or two letters and the like to it, which does not reach the degree of inimitability and which leaves the majority of the linguists in the dark about the words of the Qur’an.”
“However, it is unavoidable that as soon as this happens, God will draw attention to it and inform His servants about the correct way to do it, and I have no certainty about it. Rather, I have sympathy for its non-existence and the intactness of the Qur’an, and I have a saying on this from Ja’far Ibn Muhammad As-Sadiq (a.).”
“And this doctrine is contrary to what we heard from the children of Nawbakht about the addition and incompleteness of the Qur’an, may God bless them, and a group of imamitic theologians and understanding ones (Fuqaha’) and honorable ones of them believed in it.” [Awa’il-ul-Maqalat, page 81 – 82]
