A’ishah is a test from God

Aban Ibn Abi Ayyash reported that Sulaim Ibn Qais said:“Ali (a.) mentioned Aishah and her leaving of the house and what she did to him. Ammar said: “O Commander of the Believers, leave her, for she is your mother!” Then he stopped mentioning her and went on to another matter. Thereupon he mentioned her again, whereupon he said even stricter than what he said before. Ammar then said: “O commander of the believers, leave her, for she is your mother!” Thereupon he stopped mentioning her. After that he mentioned her for the third time and said even stricter than what he said before. Ammar said: “O Commander of the Believers, leave her, for she is your mother!” Thereupon he said: ” Not at all. I stand with God against those who rebelled against Him, and God tested you through your mother to know whether you stand with Him or with her.” [Kitab Sulaim of Al-Hilali, page 439]

بسند صحيح عن أبان بن أبي عياش عن سليم بن قيس عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: ثم ذكر عليه السلام عائشة وخروجها من بيتها وما ركبت منه. فقال عمار: يا أمير المؤمنين، كف عنها فإنها أمك فترك ذكرها وأخذ في شئ آخر، ثم عاد إلى ذكرها فقال أشد مما قال أولا. فقال عمار: يا أمير المؤمنين، كف عنها فإنها أمك فأعرض عن ذكرها ثم عاد الثالثة فقال أشد مما قال. قال: فقال عمار: يا أمير المؤمنين، كف عنها فإنها أمك فقال: كلا، إني مع الله على من خالفه، وإن أمكم ابتلاكم الله بها ليعلم أمعه تكونون أم معها

The followers of A’ishah also narrate the event.

Abu Husain reported that Abdullah Al-Asadi said: “When Talhah, Zubair and A’ishah went out to Basrah, Ali (a.) sent Ammar Ibn Yasir and Husain Ibn Ali (a.), whereupon they came to Kufah and climbed onto the pulpit. Thus Hasan Ibn Ali (a.) was on the pulpit and Ammar Ibn Yasir stood under him. We came together with him, whereupon I heard Ammar say: “Aishah has gone out to Basrah, and by God, she is the wife of your prophet in this world and in the next. But God tested you to know whether you would obey Him or her.” [Sahih-ul-Bukhari, Hadith 6687]

حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا أبو بكر بن عياش حدثنا أبو حصين حدثنا أبو مريم عبد الله بن زياد الأسدي قال لما سار طلحة والزبير وعائشة إلى البصرة بعث علي عمار بن ياسر وحسن بن علي فقدما علينا الكوفة فصعدا المنبر فكان الحسن بن علي فوق المنبر في أعلاه وقام عمار أسفل من الحسن فاجتمعنا إليه فسمعت عمارا يقول إن عائشة قد سارت إلى البصرة ووالله إنها لزوجة نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم في الدنيا والآخرة ولكن الله تبارك وتعالى ابتلاكم ليعلم إياه تطيعون أم هي

In the Qur’an it says:

“He who obeys the messenger has obeyed Allah, and if anyone turns away, then We have not sent you as a guardian over them.” [An-Nisa’ 4:80]

من يطع الرسول فقد أطاع الله ومن تولى فما أرسلناك عليهم حفيظا

“O wives of the prophet, if one of you commits a clear shameful act, the punishment will be doubled for you, and that is easy for God.” [Al-Ahzab 33:30]

يا نساء النبي من يأت منكن بفاحشة مبينة يضاعف لها العذاب ضعفين وكان ذلك على الله يسيرا

“God has given the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot as examples for those who disbelieve. Both of them were under two servants of our righteous servants. But they were unfaithful to them, so these could not profit them before God. And it was said: “Go into the fire with those who enter.” [At-Tahrim 66:10]

ضرب الله مثلا للذين كفروا امرأت نوح وامرأت لوط كانتا تحت عبدين من عبادنا صالحين فخانتاهما فلم يغنيا عنهما من الله شيئا وقيل ادخلا النار مع الداخلين
