Al-Majlisi about motherhood

Question:

Does Al-Majlisi confirm that Aishah is no longer the mother of the believers?

Answer:

Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: “The hypocrites among the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (s.) lost their rank as the Mothers of the Believers, just like Aishah was divorced by the Commander of the Believers (a.) on the Day of Basrah (Battle of the Camel) to publicly announce to the people that she was excluded from this judgment according to some aspects, even though Muslims were still forbidden to marry her.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar, Volume 74 page 265]

قال الشيخ محمد باقر المجلسي: إن المنافقات من أزواج النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم خرجن بذلك عن كونهم أمهات المؤمنين كما طلق أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام عائشة يوم البصرة ليظهر للناس خروجها عن هذا الحكم على بعض الوجوه، وإن بقي تحريم نكاحها على المسلمين
