Question:

What does the Bible mean by saying that God created man in His image?

Response:

The Bible states:

“And God said: “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness; and they will have authority over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” And God created man in His image, in the image of God He created him; as male and female He created them.” [Genesis 1:26-27]

“And the Lord God said: “Behold, man has become like us, knowing what is good and what is evil.” [Genesis 3:22]

“But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing; among the unbelievers, to whom the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the senses, so that the bright light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, does not shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but our Lord Jesus Christ; ourselves also as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” [2 Corinthians 4:3-5]

Comment:

Hence, the image of God consists of Lordship, knowledge, and preaching.
