Jealousy is disbelief

Question:

Does Islam teach that the jealousy of a woman is disbelief (kufr)?

Response:

Muhammad ibn Husain reported, that Imam Ali (a.) said: ,,The jealousy of the woman is disbelief and the jealousy of the man is belief.” [Nahj-ul-Balaghah of Ar-Radi, Volume 3 page 29]

عن محمد بن الحسين عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: غيرة المرأة كفر وغيرة الرجل إيمان

Companions of Uthman Ibn Isa reported, Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,Jealousy is not for anyone except for the man, but as for the women, so from them it is considered as  envy and the jealousy belongs only to the man and therefore God forbade the women anyone, except for her husband, while He allowed the men four (wives) and God is more noble, than that He tests the women with jealousy, while He still allows the men three along with her.” [Mawsu’at-ul-Ahadith of An-Najafi, Volume 8 page 241]

عن أصحاب عثمان بن عيسى عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: ليس الغيرة إلا للرجال وأما النساء فإنما ذلك منهن حسد والغيرة للرجال ولذلك حرم الله على النساء إلا زوجها وأحل للرجال أربعا وإن الله أكرم أن يبتليهن بالغيرة ويحل للرجال معها ثلاثا

Sa’d Al-Jallab reported, that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: ,,God did not make jealousy for the women. Only the rejecters among them have jealousy, but as for the believers, this is not the case. God made jealousy only for the man and therefore He allowed to him four (wives) and what his right hand took possession of (in slave girls) and He did not grant to the woman anyone, except for only her husband, but if she desired besides him for a (another) man, then she would go after illegitimate intercourse.” [Ilal-ush-Shara’i of As-Saduq, Volume 2 page 505]

عن سعد الجلاب عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: إن الله تعالى لم يجعل الغيرة للنساء، إنما تغار المنكرات منهن، فاما المؤمنات فلا، وإنما جعل الله تعالى الغيرة للرجال لان الله قد أحل تعالى له أربعا، وما ملكت يمينه ولم يجعل للمرأة إلا زوجها وحده، فان بغت معه غيره كان زانية

Jabir Al-Ju’fi reported, that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said: ,,The jealousy of the woman is the envy and the envy is the cause of disbelief. When the women become jealous, they will become angry and when they become angry, they will become disbelievers, except for those among them, who submit.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 page 505]

عن جابر الجعفي عن الباقر عليه السلام قال: غيرة النساء الحسد والحسد هو أصل الكفر إن النساء إذا غرن غضبن وإذا غضبن كفرن إلا المسلمات منهن

Muhammad ibn Husain reported, that Imam Ali (a.) said: ,,Beware of jealousy, there where the jealousy is inappropriate, for that calls the healthy to illness and the immaculate to doubt.” [Nahj-ul-Balaghah of Ar-Radi, Volume 3 page 57]

عن محمد بن الحسين عن الإمام علي عليه السلام قال: وإياك والتغاير في غير موضع غيرة فإن ذلك يدعو الصحيحة إلى السقم والبريئة إلى الريب

Ishaq ibn Ammar reported, that he told Imam As-Sadiq (a.): ,,The woman behaves jealously towards the man. She causes him suffering.” He said: ,,This is from love.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 5 page 506]

عن إسحاق بن عمار أنه قال للإمام الصادق عليه السلام: المرأة تغار على الرجل تؤذيه قال: ذلك من الحب

Ziyad ibn Abdillah reported, that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,One of the wretched creatures came to Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger (s.) and said to her: ,,Do you not know, that Ali asked for the hand of the daughter of Abu Jahl?” She said: ,,Shall what you say be true?” He said three times: ,,I am telling the truth.” Whereupon there entered into her that of jealousy, which was not inherent to herself and it is that God enjoined upon the women the jealousy and upon the men the striving (jihad) and He granted to the contented patient among them that in reward, which He granted to the emigrant in the way of God.” [Ilal-ush-Shara’i of As-Saduq, Volume 1 page 185]

عن زياد بن عبد الله عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام قال: إنه جاء شقي من الأشقياء إلى فاطمة بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال لها: أما علمت أن عليا قد خطب بنت أبي جهل فقالت: حقاما تقول؟ فقال: حقا ما أقول ثلاث مرات فدخلها من الغيرة مالا تملك نفسها وذلك أن الله تبارك وتعالى كتب على النساء غيرة وكتب على الرجال جهادا وجعل للمحتسبة الصابرة منهن من الاجر ما جعل للمرابط المهاجر في سبيل الله
