The brave Yahya Al-Mut’imi

Abu Ali Al-Khurasani reported, that the client of Ali Ibn Husain (a.) said:,,I secretly met with Ali Ibn Husain (a.) and said: ,,Do I not have the right with you, that you tell me about the two men, Abu Bakr and Umar?” He said: ,,They are both disbelievers and whoever loves them is a disbeliever.” [Taqrib-ul-Ma’arif of Al-Halabi, page 244, hadith 4]

وعن أبي علي الخراساني، عن مولى لعلي بن الحسين عليهما السلام قال: كنت مع علي بن الحسين عليهما السلام في بعض خلواته، فقلت: إن لي عليك حقا، ألا تخبرني عن هذين الرجلين، عن أبي بكر وعمر؟ فقال: كافران، كافر من أحبهما

Jamil reported, that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,The people became apostate after Husain (a.) except for three: Abu Khalid Al-Kabuli, Yahyah Ibn Umm At-Tawil and Jubair Ibn Mut’im. After that, the people turned back again in increasing numbers and Yahya Ibn Umm At-Tawil used to enter the prayer house of Prophet Muhammad (s.) and say: ,,We reject you and enmity and hatred have become visible between us and you forever!” [Al-Ikhtisas of Al-Mufid, page 64]

حدثنا جعفر بن الحسين، عن محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن محمد بن عيسى عن يونس، عن جميل، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: ارتد الناس بعد الحسين عليه السلام إلا ثلاثة: أبو خالد الكابلي ويحيى بن أم الطويل وجبير بن مطعم ثم إن الناس لحقوا وكثروا وكان يحيى بن أم الطويل يدخل مسجد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله ويقول: كفرنا بكم وبدا بيننا وبينكم العداوة والبغضاء

Amr Ibn Abi l-Miqdam reported, that Imam Al-Jawad (a.) said: ,,As for Yahya Ibn Umm At-Tawil, he used to come out in public heroically and when he walked on a path, he used to wear a fragrant cloth on his head. He chewed on a rubber mass and extended his robe. Al-Hajjaj challenged him and said: ,,You shall curse Abu Turab (Ali)!” After that, he gave an order so that they cut off his hands and feet and killed him.” [Al-Ikhtiyar of At-Tusi, Volume 1, page 338 – 339, Hadith 195]

حدثني أحمد بن علي، قال: حدثني أبو سعيد الادمي، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن يزيد النوفلي، عن عمرو بن أبي المقدام، عن أبي جعفر الأول عليه السلام قال: أما يحيى بن أم الطويل: فكان يظهر الفتوة. وكان إذا مشى في الطريق وضع الخلوق على رأسه ويمضغ اللبان ويطول ذيله، وطلبه الحجاج فقال: تلعن أبا تراب وأمر بقطع يديه ورجليه وقتله

Asbat reported, that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: ,,On the Day of Resurrection a caller calls out: ,,Where are the followers of Ali Ibn Al-Husain?” Then Jubair ibn Mut’im, Yahya ibn Umm-ut-Tawil, Abu Khalid Al-Kabuli and Sa’id ibn Musayyib will arise.” [Al-Ikhtisas of Al-Mufid, page 61]

ابن الوليد, عن الصفار, عن علي بن سليمان, وحدثنا أحمد ابن محمد بن يحيى, عن سعد, عن محمد بن علي بن سليمان, عن علي بن أسباط, عن أبيه, عن أبي الحسن موسى عليه السلام قال: إذا كان يوم القيامة نادى مناد أين حواري علي بن الحسين فيقوم جبير بن مطعم, ويحيى بن أم الطويل, وأبو خالد الكابلي وسعيد بن المسيب

Sa’dan ibn Muslim reported, that Imam Al-Kazim (a.) said: ,,O so-and-so, tell the truth, even if therein is your downfall, for therein lies your salvation and reject the falsehood, even if therein is your salvation, for therein lies your downfall.” [Mishkat-ul-Anwar of At-Tabarsi, page 137, Hadith 4]

سعدان بن مسلم قال: قال الكاظم عليه السلام: يا فلان قل الحق وإن كان فيه هلاكك فإن فيه نجاتك، ودع الباطل وإن كان فيه نجاتك فإن فيه هلاكك

Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: ,,Those exalted personalities were among the special companions of the Imams (a.). Their conduct, of refraining from caution (taqiyyah), was accepted by the Imams (a.) because of an inner special interest.” [Mir’at-ul-Uqul, volume 11, page 98]

قال الشيخ محمد باقر المجلسي: كان هؤلاء الأجلاء من خواص أصحاب الأئمة عليهم‌السلام كانوا مأذونين من قبل الأئمة عليهم‌ السلام بترك التقية لمصلحة خاصة خفية

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported, that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,When you see the people of doubt and innovations after me, then keep your distance from them, insult them frequently, talk about them many times, pick on them often and make them speechless often so that they will not seek, to corrupt Islam and people will beware of them and not learn from their innovations. God will write down good deeds for you in return and thereby elevate you by levels in the Hereafter.” Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes: ,,Authentic (Sahih).” Hadi An-Najafi writes: ,,The tradition is authentic (Sahih) according to its chain.” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 2, page 212, Hadith 4]

محمد بن يحيى، عن محمد بن الحسين، عن أحمد بن محمد بن أبي نصر، عن داود ابن سرحان، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: إذا رأيتم أهل الريب والبدع من بعدي فأظهر والبراءة منهم وأكثروا من سبهم والقول فيهم والوقيعة وباهتوهم كيلا يطمعوا في الفساد في الاسلام ويحذرهم الناس ولا يتعلمون من بدعهم يكتب الله لكم بذلك الحسنات ويرفع لكم به الدرجات في الآخرة. قال الشيخ المجلسي: صحيح وقال الشيخ هادي النجفي: الرواية صحيحة الإسناد
