You shall not give what is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine

Someone told Yunus that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,Jesus, the son of Mary (a.), stood among the Children of Israel while he was preaching. Thus he said: ﴾O you Children of Israel, do not tell the foolish about wisdom, whereupon you do wrong to it, and do not deny it to those worthy of it, whereupon you do wrong to them.﴿” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, Volume 1, Page 42, Hadith 4]

علي بن إبراهيم عن محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد عن يونس بن عبد الرحمن عمن ذكره عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام قال: قام عيسى بن مريم عليه السلام خطيبا في بني إسرائيل فقال: يا بني إسرائيل لا تحدثوا الجهال بالحكمة فتظلموها ولا تمنعوها أهلها فتظلوهم

Ahmad ibn Is’haq reported that Jesus Christ (a.) said: ,,Do not give the holy nor the pearls to the pigs, whereupon they trample them with their feet.” [Tarikh-ul-Ya’qubi, Volume 1, pages 100 – 101]

أحمد بن إسحاق عن المسيح عليه السلام قال: لا تعطوا القدس ولا اللؤلؤ للخنازير فتدوسه بأرجلها

Muhammad ibn Ali reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,Do not throw pearls into the mouths of dogs.” [Awali La’ali’ of Al-Ahsa’i, Volume 1, Page 269, Hadith 76]

محمد بن علي بن إبراهيم عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: لا تطرحوا الدر في أفواه الكلاب

Muhammad Salih reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,Do not hang the jewels on the necks of pigs.” [Sharh Usuli l-Kafi of Al-Mazandarani, Volume 2, Page 119]

محمد صالح عن النبي صلى الله علي وآله قال: لا تعلقوا الجواهر في أعناق الخنازير

Nu’man ibn Muhammad reported about Imam As-Sadiq (a.): ,,He said to some of his followers: ﴾Against this saying (hadith) of yours and this matter of yours, the hearts of the foolish feel aversion. So whoever approved of it, grant him more and whoever disapproved of it, leave him alone.﴿” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il of An-Nuri, Volume 12, Page 292, Hadith 14117]

النعمان بن محمد بن منصور عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام أنه قال لبعض شيعته: إن حديثكم هذا وأمركم هذا تشمئز منه قلوب الجاهلين فمن عرفه فزيدوه ومن أنكره فذروه

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,Jesus, the son of Mary (a.), stood among the Children of Israel. علي بن مهزيار عن الحسين بن سعيد عن الحارث بن محمد ابن النعمان عن جميل بن صالح عن جعفر بن محمد عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن الحسين عن الحسين بن علي عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله علي وآله قال: إن عيسى بن مريم عليه السلام قام في بني إسرائيل فقال: يا بني إسرائيل لا تحدثوا بالحكمة الجهال فتظلموها

Abu Ma’mar As-Sa’dani reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: ,,The possessor of knowledge cannot present all the knowledge to all people, for among them is the powerful and the powerless and from it is that, which one can bear and that, which one cannot bear, except the one whom God made easier the bearing of it, and whom He helped in it from His choicest near ones.” [At-Tawhid of As-Saduq, page 268, Hadith 5]

أحمد بن الحسن عن أحمد بن يحيى عن بكر بن عبد الله عن أحمد بن يعقوب عن محمد بن الحسن عن طلحة بن يزيد عن عبيد الله بن عبيد عن أبي معمر السعداني عن علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام قال: ليس كل العلم يستطيع صاحب العلم أن يفسره لكل الناس لأن منهم القوي والضعيف، ولأن منه ما يطاق حمله ومنه ما لا يطاق حمله إلا من يسهل الله له حمله وأعانه عليه من خاصة أوليائه

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,For the sake of God, for the sake of God, pay attention to the people of my house, the luminaries in the darknesses, the origins of knowledge, the sources of wisdoms, and the seat of angels.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 22, Page 477, Hadith 27]

علي بن طاووس عن عيسى بن المستفاد الضرير عن موسى بن جعفر عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: الله الله في أهل بيتي، مصابيح الظلم، ومعادن العلم، وينابيع الحكم، ومستقر الملائكة

Muhammad ibn Isma’il reported that Jesus Christ (a.) said: ,,O you disciples, do not throw the pearls before the pig, for it does not do anything with them, and do not grant wisdom to the one, who does not seek it, for wisdom is better than pearls and the one, who does not seek it is worse than the pig.” [At-Tabligh of Ar-Raishahri, page 163 – 164, Hadith 335]

محمد بن إسماعيل عن المسيح عليه السلام قال: يا معشر الحواريين لا تلقوا اللؤلؤ للخنزير فإنه لا يصنع به شيئا ولا تعطوا الحكمة من لا يريدها فإن الحكمة أحسن من اللؤلؤ ومن لا يريدها أشر من الخنزير

Anas Ibn Malik reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,The seeking of knowledge is a duty for every Muslim and whoever grants knowledge to the unworthy, is like one of those who puts jewels, pearls and gems on the pigs as collars.” [Bihar-ul-Anwar of Al-Majlisi, Volume 62, Page 241]

محمد بن يزيد القزويني عن أنس بن مالك عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: طلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم وواضع العلم في غير أهله كمقلد الخنازير الجوهر واللؤلؤ والدر

Muhammad ibn Isma’il reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: ,,Do not hang pearls on the necks of the pigs.” [At-Tabligh of Ar-Raishahri, page 165, Hadith 341]

محمد بن إسماعيل عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: لا تعلقوا الدر في أعناق الخنازير

Mufaddal Ibn Umar reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: ,,Put on collars with pearls.” I said: ,,My Lord, what are collars with pearls?” He said: ,,They are the competition for the accumulation of our narrations and reports, and in whom our narrations and reports have accumulated, he has reached an eminent position with his Creator.” [Al-Ma’arif of At-Tabarani, page 147]

المفضل بن عمر عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام قال: تقلدوا بقلائد الدرر قلت: مولاي ما هي قلائد الدرر قال: هي المكاثرة من روایاتنا وأخبارنا ومن كثرت روایاتنا وأخبارنا عنده عظمت منزلته عند بارئه

Nu’man Ibn Muhammad reported about Imam As-Sadiq (a.): ,,He spoke to the people of his followers who gathered with him and discussed with each other what they talked about in his presence. So he said to them: ﴾Tell people what they approve of and leave what they disapprove of. Do you find pleasure in God and His Messenger (s.) being insulted?﴿ He said: ﴾How are God and His Messenger (s.) insulted?﴿ He said: ﴾When you tell them what they disapprove of, they say: ,,God curse the one who says that.” Whilst that is what God and His Messenger (s.) said.﴿” [Mustadrak-ul-Wasa’il of An-Nuri, Volume 12, Page 292, Hadith 14116]

النعمان بن محمد بن منصور عن جعفر بن محمد الصادق عليه السلام أنه قال لقوم من شيعته اجتمعوا إليه وتذاكروا ما يتكلمون به عنده، فقال لهم: حدثوا الناس بما يعرفون، ودعوا ما ينكرون، أتحبون أن يسب الله ورسوله قالوا: وكيف يسب الله ورسوله قال: يقولون إذا حدثتموهم بما ينكرون: لعن الله قائل هذا، وقد قاله الله ورسوله صلى الله عليه وآله
