Abd-ul-Hamid Ibn Abi l-Ala’ reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “By God, if after disobedience and arrogance the devil would prostrate himself before God as long as this world lasts, it would neither benefit him nor God would accept it from him unless he prostrated before Adam (a.), as God commanded him to prostrate before him, and like that is it with this disobedient nation, which became decieved after their prophet (s.), for after they have turned away from the Imam (a.) whom their Prophet (s.) had appointed for them, God will never accept any action from them and no good deed will rise from them until they come to God as He commanded them and are close to the Imam (a.) to whom they have been assigned the closeness (Wilayah) to and enter from the gate which God and his Messenger (s.) opened before them.” [Al-Wasa’il of Al-Amili, Volume 1, page 120 Hadith 5]
