Question:

Did the father of Al-Majlisi attribute the lack of knowledge to the Imams (a.)?

Answer:

Muhammad Taqi Al-Majlisi writes: “It is reported authentically (Sahih) by Jamil Ibn Darraj that Abu Abdillah As-Sadiq (a.) said: “Ali, the son of Al-Husain (a.), saw me tearing out the grass around the tents in Mina. So he said, “O my son, that is not to be ripped out.” If it is possible, then it is interpreted that he had the determined will or that he was small and not yet of age, and we consider ignorance (Jahl) to be permissible among them at a young age.” [Rawdat-ul-Muttaqin, Volume 4, page 166]

Comment:

The ignorance (Jahl) of Al-Majlisi is more questionable.
