Hug women while in prayer?

Question:

Some enemies claim that Imam Ali (a.) allowed to hug and covet a woman during prayer. Is this true?

Answer:

The unbelievers have lied!

Masma’ reported that he questioned Imam Al-Kazim (a.) and said: “I tend to pray while a little girl comes by. So sometimes i would press her towards me.” He said: ” There is no problem with that.” Yunus Ibn Abd Ar-Rahman reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said, “Whoever desires the figure of a woman, his prayer is void.” Yunus said: “When he is in prayer.” [Wasa’il-ush-Shi’ah of Al-Hurr-ul-Amili, Volume 7 Pages 278 – 279]

محمد بن الحسن بإسناده عن الحسين بن سعيد عن ابن أبي عمير عن مسمع قال: سألت أبا الحسن عليه السلام فقلت: أكون أصلي فتمر بي الجارية فربما ضممتها إلي قال لا بأس. أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي في المحاسن عن إدريس بن الحسن قال: قال يونس بن عبد الرحمن قال أبو عبد الله عليه السلام: من تأمل خلق امرأة فلا صلاة له قال يونس: إذا كان في الصلاة

Abu Salamah reported that Aishah said: “I slept before the Prophet Muhammad (s.) and my legs were in his direction of prayer. When he prostrated, he pressed me. So I pulled my legs back. When he got up, I stretched them out. There were no lamps in the houses that day.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 375]

حدثنا إسماعيل قال حدثني مالك عن أبي النضر مولى عمر بن عبيد الله عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن عن عائشة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنها قالت كنت أنام بين يدي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ورجلاي في قبلته فإذا سجد غمزني فقبضت رجلي فإذا قام بسطتهما قالت والبيوت يومئذ ليس فيها مصابيح

Al-Qasim reported that Aishah said: “It is bad that you equate us with the dog and the donkey. I saw myself and the Prophet Muhammad (s.) praying as I lay between him and the direction of prayer. When he wanted to prostrate, he pressed my legs. So I pulled them back.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 497]

حدثنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يحيى قال حدثنا عبيد الله قال حدثنا القاسم عن عائشة لعنها الله قالت بئسما عدلتمونا بالكلب والحمار لقد رأيتني ورسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي وأنا مضطجعة بينه وبين القبلة فإذا أراد أن يسجد غمز رجلي فقبضتهما

Amr Ibn Sulaim reported that Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari said: “The Prophet Muhammad (s.) used to pray whilst carrying Umamah Bint Zainab, who was the daughter of the Messenger (s.) and Abu Al-As, the son of Rabi’ah Ibn Abd Ash-Shams. When he prostrated, he placed her down, and when he stood up, he took her in his arms.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 494]

حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف قال أخبرنا مالك عن عامر بن عبد الله بن الزبير عن عمرو بن سليم الزرقي عن أبي قتادة الأنصاري أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يصلي وهو حامل أمامة بنت زينب بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ولأبي العاص بن ربيعة بن عبد شمس فإذا سجد وضعها وإذا قام حملها

Abu Salih reported that Abu Hurairah said: “We used to pray with the Prophet Muhammad (s.) in the evening. As he prostrated, Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (a.) jumped on his back and as he raised his head, he gently took them away behind him and set them down carefully. When he prostrated again, both (a.) did the same and when he prayed, he placed both (a.) on his thighs.” [As-Silsilat-us-Sahihah of Al-Albani, Hadith 3325]
