Question:

How does As-Saduq judge those who attribute a real face to God?

Answer:

Abu Ja’far As-Saduq writes: “Those who describe God with a face like the faces are disbelievers and associate other partners with Him. His faces are His prophets and His proofs (a.), for they are those through whom the servants turn to God, His knowledge and the knowledge of His religion, and looking at them is a tremendous reward on the Day of Resurrection that surpasses any reward. The Exalted One says: “Everyone who is on it is perishable, but the face of your Lord remains.” (55:26-27) And the Exalted One says: “Wherever you turn, there is the face of God.” (2:115) By which he means: “Over there you have to turn to God.” So there is no necessity, to reject anything from the reports that agrees with the wording of the Qur’an.” [Man La Yahduruh-ul-Faqih, Volume 1 Page 236]
