Al-Qumi about the betrayal of A’ishah with her cousin
Ali Ibn Ibrahim Al-Qumi writes:
“About His statement “God set an example” (66:10) Ali Ibn Ibrahim says: “God formed a parable for the two. Then He said: “God gave as an example for those who disbelieved, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. Both of them were subject to two of Our righteous servants. So the two betrayed them.” Then He said: “By Allah, He meant nothing but the shamelessness, when He said: “So the two betrayed them” (33:30) and He will certainly punish So-and-so (A’ishah) for the transgression (Hadd) because of what she did on the way to Basrah and So-and-so (Talhah) used to love her. So when she wanted to go out to Basrah, he said to her: “You are not allowed to go out without someone that can not be touched (mahram).” So she made herself his partner.” His statement: “Hereupon, God gave as an example to those who believed, the wife of Pharaoh.” (66:11) Until His statement: “And Mary, the daughter of Amram, who guarded her private parts.” (66:12) He said: ” They did not look at her: “So We breathed into him of Our Spirit.” By which is meant a created spirit: “And she was of the submissive.” By which is meant “those who would call.” (33:46) [Tafsir-ul-Qumi, Volume 3, pages 1085 – 1086]
