A believing man does not hate excessively and for the sake of himself

Ja’far As-Sadiq (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “The believer does not wrong the one he hates and he does not sin for the sake of the one he likes. If he is wronged, he endures it, until God is the triumphant one.” [Al-Amali of At-Tusi, page 580, hadith 1199]

محمد بن الحسن بن علي بن الحسن عن جماعة عن أبي المفضل عن عبد الله ابن محمد بن عبيد بن ياسين بن محمد بن عجلان مولى الباقر عليه السلام عن علي بن محمد عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن موسى عن موسى بن جعفر عن جعفر بن محمد عن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام قال: المؤمن لا يحيف على من يبغض، ولا يأثم فيمن يحب وإن بغي عليه صبر حتى يكون الله عز وجل هو المنتصر

Muhammad Ibn Hammam reported that Prophet Muhammad (s.) said: “He does not wrong the one he hates and he does not sin for the sake of the one he likes. He perseveres in hardships. He neither transgresses nor exceeds, and he does not carry out, what he desires for.” [At-Tamhis of Al-Harrani, page 74, Hadith 171]

محمد بن همام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال: لا يحيف على من يبغض ولا يأثم فيمن يحب صبور في الشدائد لا يجور ولا يعتدي ولا يأتي بما يشتهي

Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.) reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “He does not wrong the one he hates and he does not sin for the sake of the one he likes. He does not claim what does not belong to him, he does not deny any right that exists against him and he accepts the right before any witness is given to it. He does not lose that which is entrusted to him and does not participate in insulting each other. He does not assault anyone and does not hold grudges against anyone. He neither harms his neighbour nor is he gloating over misfortune. He hastens to the right thing, returns what has been entrusted to him and does not quickly commit the reprehensible.” [Al-Amali of As-Saduq, page 665, hadith 897]

محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد عن محمد بن الحسن الصفار عن علي بن حسان الواسطي عبد الرحمن بن كثير الهاشمي عن جعفر بن محمد عن محمد بن علي عن علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام قال: لا يحيف على من يبغض ولا يأثم فيمن يحب ولا يدعي ما ليس له ولا يجحد حقا هو عليه، يعترف بالحق قبل أن يشهد عليه، لا يضيع ما استحفظ، ولا يتنابز بالألقاب، لا يبغي على أحد، ولا يهم بالحسد، ولا يضر بالجار، ولا يشمت بالمصائب، سريع إلى الصواب مؤد للأمانات بطئ عن المنكرات

Nazzal Ibn Sabrah reported that Imam Ali (a.) said: “Be gentle to the one you like, for it may be that one day he will be the one you hate and be gentle to the one you hate, for it may be that one day he will be the one you like.” [Al-Amali of At-Tusi, page 364, hadith 767]
