Is Salman a member of the people of the House?

Sadir reported, that Imam Al-Baqir (a.) said:,,Salman was sitting with a group of the Quraish in the house of prayer. Thereupon, they proceeded to name their origin and lineage until it was the turn of Salman among them. Therefore, Umar Ibnu l-Khattab said to him: ﴾Tell us who you are and who is your father and what are your roots.﴿ He said: ﴾I am Salman, the son of Abdullah. I was lost, whereupon God showed me the way through Muhammad (s.) and I was poor, whereupon God made me rich through Muhammad (s.) and I was a slave, whereupon God freed me through Muhammad (s.). This is my origin and this is my status.﴿ Thereupon, the Prophet (s.) came forward while Salman was talking to them. Salman said to him: ﴾O Messenger of God, what did I come across among these people? I sat with them and they took to naming their origin and lineage until my turn came among them and Umar Ibnu l-Khattab said: ,,Report to us who you are and who your father is and what your roots are.”﴿ The Prophet (s.) said: ﴾What did you say to him, O Salman?﴿ He said: ﴾I said to him: ,,I am Salman, the son of Abdullah. I was lost, whereupon God showed me the way through Muhammad (s.) and I was poor, whereupon God made me rich through Muhammad (s.) and I was a slave, whereupon God freed me through Muhammad (s.). This is my origin and this is my status.”﴿ The Messenger (s.) said: ﴾O you Quraish, the noble origin of a man is his faith and his manhood is his morality and his root is his reason. The Exalted says: ,,We created you from a man and a woman and We made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know each other. The most respected of you with God is the most God-fearing among you.”﴿ (49:13) After that, the Prophet (s.) said to Salman: ﴾None of these people is better than you, except by the fear of God, for if you have fear of God which is superior to them, then you are better.﴿” [Al-Kafi of Al-Kulaini, volume 8, page 181 – 182, hadith 203]

علي بن إبراهيم، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عيسى، عن صفوان بن يحيى، عن حنان قال: سمعت أبي يروي عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام: قال: كان سلمان جالسا مع نفر من قريش في المسجد فأقبلوا ينتسبون ويرفعون في أنسابهم حتى بلغوا سلمان، فقال له عمر ابن الخطاب: أخبرني من أنت ومن أبوك وما أصلك؟ فقال: أنا سلمان بن عبد الله كنت ضالا فهداني الله عز وجل بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله وكنت عائلا فأغناني الله بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله وكنت مملوكا فأعتقني الله بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله هذا نسبي وهذا حسبي، قال: فخرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلمان رضي الله عنه يكلمهم، فقال له سلمان: يا رسول الله ما لقيت من هؤلاء جلست معهم فأخذوا ينتسبون ويرفعون في أنسابهم حتى إذا بلغوا إلي قال عمر ابن الخطاب: من أنت وما أصلك وما حسبك؟ فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله: فما قلت له يا سلمان؟ قال: قلت له: أنا سلمان بن عبد الله كنت ضالا فهداني الله عز ذكره بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله و كنت عائلا فأغناني الله عز ذكره بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله وكنت مملوكا فأعتقني الله عز ذكره بمحمد صلى الله عليه وآله هذا نسبي وهذا حسبي، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: يا معشر قريش إن حسب الرجل دينه ومروءته خلقه وأصله عقله وقال الله عز وجل: إنا خلقناكم من ذكر و أنثى وجعلناكم شعوبا وقبائل لتعارفوا إن أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم ثم قال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله لسلمان: ليس لأحد من هؤلاء عليك فضل إلا بتقوى الله عز وجل وإن كان التقوى لك عليهم فأنت أفضل

Hakam ibn Miskin reported, that Hasan ibn Suhaib said: ,,Someone mentioned to Abu Ja’far (Al-Baqir): ﴾Salman the Persian.﴿ Whereupon he said: ﴾What is this? Do not say Salman the Persian, but say Salman the Muhammadan.”﴿ This is someone from us, the people of the House.” [Al-Ikhtiyar of At-Tusi, Volume 1, Page 54, Hadith 26]

جبريل بن أحمد، قال حدثني الحسن بن خرزاد، قال حدثني أحمد بن علي وعلي بن أسباط، قالا حدثنا الحكم بن مسكين عن الحسن بن صهيب عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام قال: ذكر عنده سلمان الفارسي قال فقال أبو جعفر عليه السلام: مه لا تقولوا سلمان الفارسي ولكن قولوا سلمان المحمدي ذلك رجل منا أهل البيت

Ziyad Al-Abdi reported, that Fadl Ibn Isa said: ,,I entered Abu Abdillah (As-Sadiq) with my father Isa with me, who asked him: ﴾Did the Messenger of God (s. ) say: ,,Salman is from us, the people of the House?”﴿ He said: ﴾Yes.﴿ He said: ﴾So one of the progeny of Abd-ul-Muttalib?﴿ He said: ﴾From us, the people of the House.﴿ He said: ﴾Also one of the descendants of Abu Talib?﴿ He said: ﴾From us, people of the House.﴿ Isa said: ﴾I do not know him.﴿ Then he said: ﴾So know him, o Isa, for he is from us, the people of the house.﴿ Then he pointed with his hand to his chest and said: ﴾It is not, what you think. God created our clay from the majestics and He created the clay of our followers from below it. So they are from us and the clay of our enemies He created from those in captivity and He created the clay of their followers from below it and they are from them and Salman is better than Luqman.﴿” [Al-Basa’ir of As-Saffar, page 37 – 38, hadith 13]

حدثنا يعقوب بن يزيد ومحمد بن عيسى عن زياد العبدي عن الفضل بن عيسى الهاشمي قال: دخلت على أبى عبد الله عليه السلام انا وأبى عيسى فقال له امن قول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله سلمان رجل منا أهل البيت فقال نعم فقال أي من ولد عبد المطلب فقال منا أهل البيت فقال له أي من ولد أبى طالب فقال منا أهل البيت فقال له انى لا اعرفه فقال فاعرفه يا عيسى فإنه منا أهل البيت ثم أومى بيده إلى صدره ثم قال ليس حيث تذهب ان الله خلق طينتنا من عليين و خلق طينة شيعتنا من دون ذلك فهم منا وخلق طينة عدونا من سجين وخلق طينة شيعتهم من دون ذلك وهم منهم وسلمان خير من لقمان

Hasan Al-Askari (a.) reported, that Prophet Muhammad (a.) said: ,,Our lovers and followers are from us and we are all like one body.” [Tafsir-ul-Askari, page 79]

الحسن العسكري عليه السلام عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: فان موالينا وشيعتنا منا، وكلنا كالجسد الواحد

Al-Hashimi reported that he asked Imam As-Sadiq (a.): ,,Did the Messenger of God (s.) say about Salman: ﴾Salman is from us people of the House?﴿” He said: ,,Yes.” Someone asked: ,,He is from the children of Hashem?” He said: ,,Yes.” Someone asked: ,,He is from the progeny of Abd-ul-Muttalib?” He said: ,,Yes, God reported from Abraham when He said: ﴾Whoever followed me, he is from me.﴿” (14:36) [Al-Qira’at of As-Sayyari, page 73, hadith 281]

محمد بن أحمد عن بعض الهاشميين أنه قال للإمام الصادق عليه السلام: أمن قول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله لسلمان: سلمان منا أهل البيت؟ قال: نعم هو منا قال: هو من بني هاشم؟ قال: نعم قال: ثم من ولد عبد المطلب؟ قال: نعم إن الله حكى عن إبراهيم حيث يقول: فمن تبعني فإنه مني

Hasan Al-Washsha’ reported, that Imam Ar-Rida (a.) said: ,,If you have obeyed God, then you are from us the People of the House.” [Shajarat Tuba of Al-Ha’iri, Volume 2, Page 381]

الحسن الوشاء عن الإمام الرضا عليه السلام قال: وأنت إذا أطعت الله فأنت منا أهل البيت
