Question:

What is the verdict on those who associate the enemies (Nawasib) with Islam?

Answer:

Al-Hasan Ibn Ali reported that Imam As-Sadiq (a.) said: “With three, God does not speak on the Day of Resurrection, nor does He honor them, nor does He declare them pure, and they are entitled to a grievous punishment: Whoever planted a tree which God did not plant, by which is meant the one who appointed an Imam, whom God did not appoint, or who denied the one whom God appointed, and who claimed that the two (Abu Bakr and Umar) had a share in Islam, and God already said: “Your Lord creates and chooses what He wills (28:68). But they do not have the choice.” [Tuhaf-ul-Uqul by Abu Muhammad Al-Harrani, page 239]

Muhammad Baqir Al-Majlisi writes, “As for his words, “And who claimed.” So this is proof that denying the disbelief of the opponent (Mukhalif) himself is disbelief or is close to disbelief. [Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 68 page 281]
